The High-Altitude Trap: Is your mind replacing your life? ☁️
One of the most important lessons to learn is the difference between being mentally busy and being truly present. So many people are exhausted not because life is demanding, but because they are living too much of it inside their heads—replaying past conversations, rehearsing future outcomes, and analyzing every possible angle to "think" of a way into a sense of certainty--white-knuckling for control when we are actually, completely out of it.
I’m thinking of a powerful moment from my Quantum Mastery Retreat in Tenerife, Spain just a few short weeks ago. I was paragliding, suspended thousands of feet in the air, barely able to see the ground through the clouds (at times, I couldn't see it). At first, my instinct was to grip tightly to attempt to control the glider. My head was full of "Holy cow, we are high," and honestly, I was looking for certainty that it was going to be ok.
Then, a shift happened. I realized the truth: I am not in control here--I have to trust. I let go of the death grip I had on the harness poles. I stretched my arms out wide. Instead of holding on for dear life to an illusion, I said, "Thank you for this amazing experience," and I just enjoyed the ride.
The Lesson: Where are you still white-knuckling? Stop thinking about the chaos in the world and your life and start being present. The view is much better when your hands are open and you let go of the "how" things are going to unfold and just enjoy the experience of life.
