Happy 70th Birthday to my friend and planetary science colleague Carolyn Porco.
As head of the imaging team, she was responsible for the photo of Earth juxtaposed silently below Saturn’s ring, taken by the Cassini space probe.
She’s also famously quoted in a 1999 The New York Times interview, in response to the editor wondering why she was not married:
"There are…no high-maintenance items in my house of any kind — plants, pets or husbands."
