I rarely make posts like this, but this one broke me. My heart truly goes out to this momma. No one deserves to be treated this way. Active labor requires immediate, compassionate care — not delays, not questioning, and not charting that can wait until both momma and baby are safe.

Black women already face an increased risk of maternal mortality, yet too often we are still not taken seriously by some — not all — healthcare providers. This is why it’s so important for Black women to be informed, to advocate for themselves, and, when possible, to have a doula or a trusted advocate present.

We deserve to be heard, cared for, and protected.

I would love to start something like this!!! Who has a bus!?!? 💚

The impact that our AABC community members in their work never ceases to blow us away.
President of the NY State Chapter of AABC (NYSBCA) and founder of The Birthing Place, Myla Flores, had her Womb Bus featured in CBS News for its impact on families in the Bronx. 🚌🤰

The "Womb Bus" is a mobile wellness clinic that brings the services of the Birthing Place Foundation to under-represented communities in the Bronx, especially BIPOC families who experience significant systemic barriers to happy, healthy birth experiences. When the system is failing our families, the birth center community rises to the challenge with innovation and passion.

"I feel fortunate enough to kind of break that generational cycle of traumatic births," said one visitor of the Womb Bus.

As we celebrate the season of Thanksgiving and Christmas, let’s come together to make a difference for Empowered Parent families through a Diaper & Baby Wipes Drive!

If you feel led to host a Diaper Drive, gather your small group, friends, family, or church and join in! This is a simple and powerful way to bless others in our community during this season of gratitude and giving.

A Few Ideas to Get Started:
    •    Partner with your small group, friends, or family
    •    Host a holiday party and make the diaper drive your gift exchange theme (a fun alternative to Secret Santa!)
    •    Set a collection goal and share it with your group
    •    Gather diapers of all sizes (especially sizes 2–6) and baby wipes

What a weekend for Nurturing Ivy! 💚 From learning and connecting at the 2nd annual Perinatal Conference, to celebrating new life at a nesting party 🪺, soaking in the beauty of the dock and water while helping a sweet couple capture maternity memories 📸, and finishing strong with back-to-back overnights!! Nurturing Ivy has been busy nurturing! 🌿 My cup (and my calendar) is full, but my heart is even fuller!!!
