Facing Life Alone

I wake to the silence, cold and deep,
A world that echoes your absence,
Where once we walked, side by side,
Now I'm left with only the distance.

The nights stretch longer, darker still,
Without the warmth of your embrace,
Yet somehow I rise, though weary and lost,
To face another empty space.

I never knew how much I'd lean
On the quiet strength of your hand,
Until the day you slipped away,
Leaving me to understand.

That life alone is not a choice,
But a burden I now must bear,
To navigate a path unknown,
With memories my only prayer.

But in the quiet, I've learned to stand,
Though broken, I am not undone.
For the love we shared still lights my way,
Like the rays of a setting sun.

I face this life, though it feels so cold,
With the courage you left behind,
And though alone, I carry you still,
In the heart you’ll forever be.
