Myth:
“ABA is just bribing kids with rewards.”

Busted:
ABA uses reinforcement—but it’s not about bribery.

The goal is to teach and strengthen meaningful skills by showing what behaviors are helpful and effective. Over time, those skills become more natural and less dependent on rewards.

ABA focuses on:
✨ Teaching communication instead of frustration
✨ Building independence step by step
✨ Making learning positive and motivating

Reinforcement is simply a tool to help kids learn, grow, and succeed—not a shortcut or quick fix 💚

🐸🛡️ The people supporting your child should always be prepared.

These photos are from our team’s required Safety-Care training, led by our BCBA and owner, Hakeem Hasan. Every staff member at Leap Behavior Therapy goes through this training so they know how to stay calm, keep situations from escalating, and support kids in a safe and respectful way.

This isn’t extra—it’s a standard we hold for everyone on our team.

Because your child’s safety matters, every single day. 💙

🌧️ Rainy days can be tough…

Changes in routine, less outdoor time, and extra energy can lead to more dysregulation for some kids—and that’s okay 💙

A few gentle ways to support your child on these days:

✨ Add movement (jumping, crashing into pillows, dance breaks)
🧠 Offer calming sensory options (dim lights, quiet space, fidgets, blankets)
💬 Keep language simple and supportive
🔁 Stick to predictable routines as much as possible
⏸️ Build in breaks before frustration builds

Sometimes it’s not about “fixing” the behavior—it’s about helping your child feel safe, regulated, and understood.

You’re doing enough, even on the hard days ☔

At Leap, we honor the different ways children think, learn, communicate, and experience the world. There is no one “right” way—just many beautiful ways to grow.

We believe in meeting each child where they are, embracing their strengths, and supporting them in becoming their most confident, authentic selves.

Different, not less. Always valued. Always celebrated. ✨

At Leap, we meet kids where they are—because every child’s journey is unique. 💙

We believe in building trust, celebrating progress (big and small), and creating a supportive space where each child can grow at their own pace.

Myth:
“Kids will grow out of it—there’s no need for early intervention.”

Busted:
Early intervention can make a huge difference in a child’s development.

The early years are when the brain is most adaptable, making it the perfect time to build:
✨ Communication skills
✨ Social connections
✨ Play and learning skills
✨ Independence

Getting support early doesn’t mean something is “wrong”—it means giving your child the tools they need to thrive from the start 💚

The earlier we start, the more opportunities we create.

Happy National Siblings Day 💙

Today we celebrate the unique and meaningful bonds between autistic people and their siblings — relationships shaped by connection, growth, and shared experiences.

Siblings grow alongside one another:
✨ Learning different ways to communicate and connect
✨ Celebrating each other’s strengths and individuality
✨ Navigating life together with understanding and care

At Leap Behavior Therapy, we value and honor the experiences of the whole family. Every sibling relationship is different, and each one matters.

At Leap Behavior Therapy, autism acceptance is at the heart of everything we do 💙

We believe every child deserves to be understood, supported, and celebrated for who they are — not changed to fit a mold. Our approach focuses on building meaningful skills, honoring individuality, and partnering with families every step of the way.

Autism acceptance means:
✨ Meeting each child where they are
✨ Celebrating progress in all forms
✨ Creating supportive, inclusive environments

This month and always, we’re proud to advocate for acceptance, compassion, and growth.

🌍💙 Happy World Health Day from Leap Behavior Therapy!

Today is a reminder that health goes beyond the physical — it includes our mental, emotional, and behavioral well-being too.

At Leap, we’re committed to supporting every child’s growth by promoting healthy habits, building life skills, and creating a positive, supportive environment where they can thrive.

Let’s continue to prioritize health, happiness, and progress — one step at a time. 💫

Myth:
“ABA is just about compliance and making kids act ‘normal.’”

Busted:
ABA is about helping individuals build meaningful, functional skills that improve their quality of life—not forcing them to “fit in.”

At its core, ABA focuses on:
✨ Communication
✨ Independence
✨ Social and daily living skills
✨ Reducing behaviors that interfere with learning or safety

Good ABA is individualized, compassionate, and focused on what matters most to the child and their family 💚

We meet kids where they are—and help them grow in ways that support their success.
