Selah's Center of Hope

Selah's offers housing for expectant mothers experiencing homelessness or abuse.

During their stay at our home, they receive support and opportunities aimed at empowering them, enabling them to eventually transition to independent living. Selah’s Maternity Home offers refuge for women facing unexpected pregnancies, grappling with homelessness, abuse, or trapped in the relentless cycle of poverty without adequate support. Beyond providing shelter, we extend our assistance to address their physical needs and offer services that empower them in their individual quests for independence. Our approach involves personalized case management, guiding them through healthcare, mental health, and social services. Moms benefit from ongoing support both before and after childbirth, all the while fostering the development and reinforcement of a profound spiritual life.

Selah’s Center of Hope is grateful for our growing partnership with Kolbe Medical, a faith‑inspired family medicine practice dedicated to compassionate, dignified care for people of all ages.

Through this collaboration, our residents have gained access to supportive medical services, health education, and a team that truly sees the whole person; mind, body, and spirit. Kolbe Medical’s commitment to restoring dignity and promoting wellness aligns beautifully with Selah’s mission to walk alongside women as they build healthy, independent futures.

House nights have a special place in our hearts at Selah’s!

It’s a monthly opportunity to celebrate life accomplishments, milestones, birthdays, make memories through crafting or painting, take walks for ice cream when the weather is warm and visit local community offerings like the Farmers Markets, State Parks, County Fair Grounds, or local Orchards.

This month we had fun making keep sake puzzles 🧩 while celebrating a milestone.

Often times it’s the sweet little pauses in our week that make the biggest impacts in our world.

A question we get asked often is how long our program at Selah's is!

Selah's residential program for expectant mothers, T.H.R.I.V.E., offers extensive support at every phase of pregnancy—covering prenatal care, labor and delivery, as well as postpartum recovery. This program lasts between 3 to 18 months.

In the United States, up to 1 in 4 women experiencing homelessness will be pregnant within a year. Many of these women are walking through pregnancy without stable housing, consistent meals, or the support they deserve.

Pregnancy should be a time of care, safety, and preparation… but for so many, it’s filled with uncertainty.

Homeless pregnant women are more likely to:
• Go without prenatal care
• Experience complications during pregnancy
• Deliver prematurely or have low birth weight babies

And behind all of that is a mom who is doing her best… often with very little.

✨ This is why we do what we do!

At Selah's, we aren’t just providing a place to stay, we’re creating a safe, stable environment where women can:
• Rest and feel secure
• Receive support and guidance
• Prepare for motherhood with confidence
• Be reminded that they are not alone

Because every mom deserves dignity.

Our community partnership with Soroptimist International of Monroe continues to be a source of encouragement and inspiration at Selah’s Center of Hope. Soroptimist’s mission to help women reach their full potential resonates deeply with the work we do.

We know how powerful genuine support can be, and the Live Your Dream scholarship is a beautiful example of that impact. This scholarship has made a meaningful difference for women across our community, and over time even a few of our own residents have been honored as recipients.

At Selah's, we know how much help can matter. Some of our team recently went to a training to better serve people with disabilities in Monroe County. We learned real ways to help those in need and left ready to use these ideas where needed. We're excited to see the community unite, creating opportunities and empowering everyone.
