Monroe Community Mental Health Authority Opens Behavioral Health Urgent Care to Expand Crisis Support

Monroe Community Mental Health Authority (MCMHA) is proud to announce the opening of its new Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC), which will open to the public soon. Designed to provide immediate, compassionate support for individuals experiencing urgent behavioral health needs, the BHUC offers a warm, supportive alternative to traditional emergency departments, helping people find stability quickly while connecting them to the right ongoing services for their continued well-being.

Located at 325 Colonial Drive in Monroe, the BHUC is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The center is available to anyone, regardless of insurance, residency, or ability to pay.

Services at the BHUC include:

●Immediate assessment and evaluation

●Crisis intervention and stabilization

●Care coordination and referrals

●Medical assessment and screening

●Medication consultation

The BHUC is open to anyone in need of urgent behavioral health support. Services are available regardless of insurance status, residency, or ability to pay, ensuring that every member of the community has access to timely, compassionate care.

When individuals arrive, they are greeted by staff, guided to a private consultation room, and provided with a personalized plan of care and aftercare support.

“Our community has long needed a place where people can go for urgent behavioral health support without facing the stress and long wait times of an emergency department,” said CEO of Monroe Community Mental Health Authority Lisa Graham. “The Behavioral Health Urgent Care is about meeting people where they are, providing timely, compassionate care, and ensuring no one feels alone during an urgent mental health situation.”

The Behavioral Health Urgent Care is a component of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model. MCMHA received CCBHC status in October 2023. The CCBHC model allows MCMHA to serve anyone with a mental health or substance use disorder diagnosis, regardless of insurance, residency, or ability to pay. Consumers have access to 9 core services to meet their behavioral health needs. Additionally, being a CCBHC allows MCMHA to provide integrated and coordinated care, helping individuals and families navigate behavioral health challenges while reducing barriers to treatment.
