Grooming is more than surface cleaning; it is a direct conversation with your horse’s nervous system.

When we work the jugular groove and chest, we are engaging the Vagus Nerve: the primary driver of the parasympathetic system. This tactile stimulation helps shift a horse from a sympathetic (stress) response into a ventral vagal state of systemic calm.

In practice, we observe immediate signs of regulation: softening of the eye, a lower head carriage, and deeper respiration. What matters most is using neuro-grooming as a tool to establish 'rest and digest' before you ever ask for performance. This is the difference between a clean horse and a regulated horse. It is a systemic approach that begins beneath the surface.

To dive deeper into the science of neuro-grooming, explore my ebook, ‘The Regulated Horse’.

What colour is the horse you are working with this week? Tell me in the comments and save this post for your next session.

✨ Administrative Professionals Week ✨
We may be a little late in posting, but that doesn’t mean we have any less appreciation!

Meet Kassie! 🤩

Kassie has taken over some of our behind-the-scenes operations, and we are forever grateful!

She is a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Robbins Road Animal Clinic in GH, and in her spare time, she works remotely behind the scenes for us! She has been handling some of our messages, sending out veterinary referrals, and preparing client notes - allowing Dr. Addison to spend less time behind the computer and more time with you!

She has fur and human babies of her own and understands the importance of wellness in both the human and animal worlds!

Let’s show her some love because she is much appreciated, and we are so thankful to have her on board this year! 💛

Sunday Morning saddle fit food for thought!

Happy horses don’t buck people off 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Saddle fit isn’t the only thing to consider in an unhappy horse. The musculoskeletal system as a whole should be addressed, but the saddle is definitely a part of the puzzel! (Sometimes a huge part!)

Thank you to the AAAC for a great CE opportunity!

Is your spine “out of place?”
Probably not, you (or your pet) are probably just restricted! 🙌🏼

🐐Chiropractic Care for Goats? Yes—it’s a thing, and it matters!

Goats are incredibly athletic animals: jumping, climbing, twisting, and sometimes getting into more mischief than they should. All that movement can lead to joint restrictions, muscle tension, and subtle misalignments that affect how they feel and function.

✨ Benefits of chiropractic care for goats:
• Improves mobility and flexibility
• Supports proper posture and alignment
• Helps reduce pain and stiffness
• Enhances performance (especially for show or breeding animals)
• Aids in recovery after injury or kidding
• Promotes overall health and nervous system function

🤰 For pregnant does, chiropractic care can be especially helpful:
• Supports pelvic alignment as the body changes
• Helps reduce tension through the spine and hips
• Encourages better comfort throughout pregnancy
• May support smoother, more efficient kidding
• Helps the body adapt to the added weight and shifting center of gravity

Even small imbalances can impact how your goat moves, eats, carries a pregnancy, or interacts with the herd. Keeping their body in proper alignment supports both mom and babies.

💡 Whether you have a beloved backyard goat, a breeding doe, or a high-performing show animal, keeping their body functioning at its best makes a difference!

“I’m working on my horse’s topline” is something we hear all the time!

It takes a lot to build a topline:
⭐️ genetics
⭐️ nutrition
⭐️ exercise
⭐️ strength

In equine contexts, topline describes the muscles and structure along the horse’s upper body: from the poll, along the neck, over the withers, back, and loin to the croup

The area you see here in this video is the top of the “arch” for our topline - we want it to be nice and round, no hollowed out.

If you are working on your horse’s topline, add this quick exercise into your daily regimen!
