Growing up with an emotionally immature parent can create patterns in your adult life you might not even notice.

If as a child you felt like you had to be the ‘easy’ child, like you had to walk on eggshells, your feelings were dismissed or ignored, or you became the emotional support for your parent, you may have had an emotionally immature parent.

As an adult, you might now avoid conflict and difficult emotions, or find you have a hard time setting boundaries and feel responsible for other peoples’ feelings.

This is not about blaming your parents, but about helping name what you experienced in the past, so you can shift your present.

If this resonates with you, we hope you’ll join our

Support Group for Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents

Wednesdays 1 - 2:30 PM

Led by Heather Coleman, LCSW, this is a space to safely explore patterns, process your experiences, and build healthier relationships, with others and with yourself.

So many of us are moving through life with constant internal noise — overthinking, worry, anxiety, and overwhelm – that distract us from living our most fulfilling, joyous and peaceful lives.

Our upcoming workshop – Shamanic Teachings & Tools to Heal Trauma & Be More Present – is designed to help you step out of that state by giving you simple, practical ways to shift your attention and come back to the present moment.

With Heyoka Shaman Janet StraightArrow, a healer and sage with more than 4 decades of teaching and healing experience, you’ll be guided through:

- breathwork techniques to calm your system

- awareness practices to interrupt mental loops

- practices to quiet your mind and be fully present

- methods to unlayer causes of emotional stress and return to a steady state

- simple techniques to connect with universal truths and your inner peace you can use anytime, anywhere

And attendees will receive a free additional 20-minute session to fully integrate the workshop teachings.

If you’ve been craving a quieter mind and a deeper sense of calm, this could be a powerful place to start.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

For many people, the impact of sexual violence isn’t always visible — and it doesn’t always show up right away or in obvious ways. It can live quietly in the body, in relationships, or in a general sense of feeling “off” without a clear reason.

If this is part of your experience, there is no right way to feel and no timeline for healing.

Support, when and if you want it, can take many forms — including trauma-informed therapy, safe and supportive relationships, and practices that help you reconnect with your body and sense of self.

Healing is possible. You are not alone.

We’re excited to welcome Stacey Cermak to the Collective! A clinical social worker and horticultural therapist, Stacey offers a unique, experiential approach that uses plants and connection with nature as a pathway for healing.

This work goes beyond traditional talk therapy, creating opportunities to engage the body, the senses, and the present moment through interaction with natural elements. Whether working with houseplants, gardens, or outdoor spaces, the process can support emotional regulation, stress reduction, focus, and a deeper sense of connection.

Horticultural Therapy has been used for generations across a variety of settings, helping individuals navigate everything from stress and burnout to grief, recovery, and life transitions.

If you’re drawn to a more hands-on, grounding approach to therapy, this may be a meaningful place to begin.

So much of what we carry can feel isolating.

Patterns like guarding ourselves, feeling misunderstood, or struggling to connect often develop in relationship — and can begin to shift there, too.

Healing in community offers something different. A chance to be seen, to hear your experience reflected in others, and to practice new ways of relating in a space that feels safe and supported.

Group therapy can be a powerful complement to individual work — not replacing it, but deepening it through real-time connection, shared understanding, and collective growth.

We offer a variety of groups throughout the year, each designed to support healing in different ways.

April is Stress Awareness Month — a reminder that while stress is part of modern life, living in a constant state of overwhelm isn’t something we have to accept.

Chronic stress can impact both mental and physical health, contributing to anxiety, burnout, and depression over time. The good news: small, consistent shifts can make a meaningful difference.

These aren’t about doing everything perfectly — just about finding a few ways to support your nervous system along the way.

Save this for later, or share it with someone who might need it. 🤍

Meet Liz Hanifin, a psychotherapist with over two decades of experience supporting deep, compassionate healing.

Liz’s work is rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS), helping people understand their inner world with curiosity and care, rather than judgment.

Her approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and integrative — weaving together IFS, EMDR, Brainspotting, breathwork, and somatic practices to support healing of both mind and body. Clients feel met with warmth, respect, and a steady sense of safety as they reconnect with themselves.

Liz’s specialities include complex trauma and grief, addiction and recovery, relationship rupture and repair, blended families, neurodiversity, spirituality and meaning, and chronic illness.

We’re so excited to welcome four new members to the Mind Body Therapy Collective.

Our collective is built around collaboration, whole-person care, and the belief that healing happens in community. We bring together thoughtful, evidence-based and holistic practitioners who value connection, depth, and supporting clients from a mind–body perspective.

Each new member adds something meaningful to this shared space and to our clients, and we’re grateful to have them as part of our community.

Please join us in welcoming them!

Cold plunging gets talked about a lot lately, and for good reason: research shows it can support nervous system regulation, improve stress resilience, reduce inflammation, and enhance mood.

But cold plunging can also be a powerful mind-body practice.

When approached with guidance and intention, intentional cold exposure becomes an opportunity to work with your breath, stay present with sensation, and build capacity in real time. It’s not about toughness — it’s about learning how to meet discomfort with steadiness.

Cold Plunge 101 is a small-group introduction designed to help you explore this practice safely and confidently. Led by therapist and cold plunge expert, Zachary Schwartz, LCSW, you’ll learn the benefits of cold exposure, what to expect, how to use your breath as your anchor, and how cold-plunging can become a somatic practice to build resilience. Then, with expert coaching and group support, you’ll experience a 2–3 minute guided plunge.

We hope you’ll take the plunge and join us!
