Jenna Furnari, MA, CAP At Mount Madonna College of Ayurveda, my research and peer reviewed thesis was completed on Preparing the Body for Conception through the Practice of Ayurveda.

My name is Jenna Furnari, and for a better part of my life I have been devoted to the practice and study of ayurveda, yoga and holistic means of living and functioning. From the very beginning of my four year practitioner and master of arts course at Mount Madonna College of Ayurveda, my attention has been focused primarily on working with women in the world of prenatal and postpartum. I recently have been blessed with my first child, Vincent, and after going through the 4th trimester with the loving support I am so grateful to have received, it is clearer to me than ever that this work is more important than I ever imagined. My education and hands-on experience includes a one-on-one summer clinical work in Nepal with Dr Sarita Shrestha, Nepal’s first Ayurvedic OB/GYN specializing in women’s healthcare; completion of the Ayurveda Certificate Course and Master of Arts course at Mount Madonna Institute; recognition under National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) as Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner; postpartum care training and AyurDoula course work through Sacred Window School. Over the past 10 years I have helped countless clients with the use of herbs, diet, lifestyle practices, yoga, and holistic guidance. As an Ayurvedic Postpartum Specialist my personal mission is to reach as many women as possible with complete support through their 42 day journey following entry into motherhood. I have seen both personally and professionally that the first 6 weeks postpartum is perhaps the most important time for mother and baby. Positive patterns that last a lifetime are set and deep bonding becomes accessible when care when its practiced properly. Ayurveda teaches that the first 42 days after delivery influence a woman’s health and ability to mother well for the next 42 years. I consider my greatest work to be raising my own son, as well as providing loving, nourishing support and care for new mothers in their First 42 Days.

Every now and then the energy within really gets a deep stirring.

Today we had a 🎵 singalong at my sons preschool drop off. We practiced all the way there, and every time we got to the line, “…my only sunshine..” tears welled up out of no-where and I couldn’t get the words out. Cherishing these sweet moments together with my not-so-little anymore guy.

Happy Leo ♌️ Moon 🌙.

Lucky us! 💛 Looks like we’ll have two little Ta**us babes running the household soon.

I’m just in the early learning phase around astrology, but what I know for sure is that the Taurean dependability, intelligence, groundedness, STUBBORNNESS, persistence ... are among the qualities that make them for me, a favorite to be around.

Can’t wait to meet my new little earth darling. 39 weeks! And trusting in her timing fully.

These last 5 weeks or so (to be honest I’ve lost count) that we’ve all been home have been such sweet closure to our time together as a family of three.

I’m happy to report just a few irruptions of insanity each day 😂, though what’s more is it’s lead to us as a tight loving tribe to feel fully ready to welcome our sweet baby girl.

We’re ready when she is. 38 weeks+.

Long drives into the woods have been our magical saving grace. When SIP meant having to cancel with the amazing for our family prenatal shoot, this called for upping our selfie timer skills.

This morning I wept.//
They weren’t tears of fear, anxiety, or grief. I wept when I tuned into a final last gathering held with such grace and compassion by my dear teacher .
I wept with the profound sense of belonging, perhaps the greatest reminder I’ve ever had that we are all equal, and equally a part of this.
And in it TOGETHER.
My job is protecting + ensuring a healthy future for my children. And these two hours with Janet (in thanks to IG LIVE) allowed me to reach all the way in word to the strength, wisdom and peace that’s found within. And within all of us.
May we each have quiet moments like these. What are their five minutes or 90. So much gratitude for sangha, Community and always bringing me back to home, my own heart.
Connection to ones own heart and feeling into the connection with others, is the safest space. @ The world

Our first weekend just the two of us in almost 3 years!!
Yes, of course we’re missing the little guy and he’s on my mind almost every passing moment it seems..
Yet a few things I’ve / we’ve realized that are SO very necessary in order to maintain a relationship healthy.. SPACE and COMMITMENT towards ongoing, open communication.
And with a toddler alongside us almost always, it seems there’s less and less room for that.
This weekend feels like we could just talk from sun up to sun down. Plan ahead, reflect back, look at what’s worked, voice what we’re grateful for, and where we’re ready for change.
A quiet day on the beach means really taking inventory of all that’s manifested in the past few years. Sure, there are certainly big exciting goals we’re after together as a family..
But it’s tough to move forward without having reverence, gratitude and humility towards the past.
Grateful for it all. And for this man.
8 more weeks (more or less) until our little angel arrives. ♥️

A little secret I’ll let you in on...//
Ayurvedic cooking for the postnatal window; each of the 42+ magical recipes are a major hit around the house (especially when it comes to almost 3 year olds).
Vincent here is my official taste tester. And MAJORLY he approves this dish.
Ojas Balls - made with soaked/ground almonds, sunbutter, ghee, dates, honey, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon and cardamom. Topped with shredded coconut.
Enjoy! ✨

Did you know that prenatal Abhyangha is like ..... 😊👏🤩👌?! //*
No words. But I do want to share that Abhyangha (warm oil Ayurvedic bodywork), is not only great for new mamas, it’s ESSENTIAL through pregnancy.
I just received treatment this morning with goddess, . Those of us that pour so much energy outwards (mothering, working, human-ing)✨it’s so important✨ so breathe much of that same nourishment back in.
She and I both are based in Santa Monica and share treatments through 🌙 prenatal and postnatal.🙏
How are you nourishing yourself after the long weekend?
