Today and every day, we honor the caregivers whose love, patience, and strength hold families together through life’s hardest moments.

Caregiving is a labor of the heart; physical, emotional, and often unseen. It’s showing up again and again for someone you love, even when it’s exhausting.

At Hospice Giving Foundation, we support caregivers through education, community connections, and programs that help ease the burden of caregiving. One way we’re doing that is through The Siobhan Greene Care & Dignity Fund, established to uphold comfort, dignity, and support for individuals and families in their most vulnerable times, including emotional and practical support for caregivers.

Last week, at The Carmel Foundation, we gathered for Love Letters with Shary Farr, a meaningful workshop focused on writing messages of love, kindness, and personal wishes that can bring comfort and clarity to those we cherish.

When we take the time to share what matters most, we give our loved ones something lasting: guidance, reassurance, and peace of mind.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to Shary for guiding such a thoughtful conversation.

On the eve of Valentine’s Day, our CEO, Erin, offers an unexpected piece of advice: Stop making sense.

In her latest letter, she reflects on love, grief, music, and the quiet, human moments that don’t fit neatly into frameworks or explanations, especially at the end of life.

At Hospice Giving Foundation, we support care that lives in the in-between spaces. The kind that may not always “make sense” on paper but makes all the difference at the bedside.

Read Erin’s full letter at the link in our bio and join us in honoring a deeper, messier, and very real kind of love. ❤️

Over the years, our Gratitude Luncheon has brought together donors, partners, and friends who believe in compassionate care and showing up for one another. These moments remind us why gratitude matters and how powerful it is when a community gathers with purpose.

We can’t wait to come together again soon.

Hospice Giving Foundation is honored to welcome Dr. Laura Berman—grief educator, relationship therapist, and New York Times bestselling author—as our keynote speaker for the 2026 Gratitude Luncheon.

Her work invites us to reflect on grief, love, and transformation with tenderness and courage:

“Grief is a portal of transformation. When you are brave enough to enter it and feel it all, the metamorphosis shapes you into a more open, tender, and deeply alive version of yourself.”

Our Gratitude Luncheon is an invitation-only event and one of our favorite traditions; a moment to gather, reflect, and celebrate the supporters who make our mission possible.

A new year is a natural time to pause and think about what matters most.

Estate planning isn’t always easy to start, but it’s one of the most meaningful ways to care for the people you love and the values you want to carry forward.

If you’ve been meaning to create or update your plan, this may be a gentle reminder that small steps today can bring clarity and peace for tomorrow.

Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his vision of a world rooted in justice, compassion, and equality.

At Hospice Giving Foundation, we believe dignity at the end of life should never depend on background, income, language, or circumstance.

On MLK Jr. Day, we recommit ourselves to ensuring compassionate care reaches every corner of our community.

Celebrating Diane today and the incredible light she brings to Hospice Giving Foundation. With 23 years of service, she leads our community campaigns, events, and work with warmth, precision, and so much heart; and yes, she practically is our database. We are beyond lucky to work alongside her and to learn from her every day. Happy Birthday, Diane! ✨

✨ The New Year is a time for reflection, growth, and embracing the possibilities of positive change ✨

Many of us use this season to set intentions, take bold steps, and foster growth in our own lives. At Hospice Giving Foundation, we’ve been fortunate to experience transformative change within our organization as well. From our founding CEO, Alice Kinsler, to Siobhan Greene, and now Erin White, each leader has guided us with vision, compassion, and courage. They’ve opened doors for growth, inspired innovation, and helped shape us into the leaders of our community that we are today.

As we step into 2026, we celebrate the past, honor the present, and look forward with excitement to the opportunities ahead. Change can be challenging, but when it’s embraced with heart and purpose, it becomes a true blessing, both personally and collectively.

Here’s to a new year of growth, impact, and continued service to our community. 💛

We did it! 💛 Thanks to you, we’ve reached our $100,000 goal for Monterey County Gives! Your support helps our healthcare heroes continue providing compassionate care to families across our community.

And every additional dollar helps extend that care even further; supporting another healthcare professional, another moment of comfort, another life touched.

This is more than a goal; it’s a reminder of what’s possible when we come together.

Our Story

Hospice Giving Foundation is an independent grant-making foundation exclusively focused on end-of-life care and preparedness. Unaffiliated with a direct patient care provider, Hospice Giving Foundation is the primary funder of a spectrum of qualified nonprofit agencies that deliver compassionate end-of-life care in Monterey and San Benito Counties. Since 1997, Hospice Giving Foundation has awarded grants totaling almost $25 million.

Through our community education, professional education, and end-of-life resources, Hospice Giving Foundation provides a platform for the conversation about death and dying to increase people’s understanding, acceptance, and preparedness. Understanding that each of us may find some approaches more accessible than others, Hospice Giving Foundation’s outreach programming employs varied methods, including workshops, talks, dinner conversations, online tools, and creative media. HG Foundation serves the community by investing in service providers and relevant community education to ensure needed services are available throughout our community; for all in our community.

Hospice Giving Foundation’s singular focus gives our communities a unique and valuable resource. Through our philanthropy programs we strive for highest donor satisfaction and are careful stewards of donor funds. Under the leadership and fiduciary guidance of our Board of Directors, HG Foundation is sustained by strategic investments, carefully disbursement of funds, and by being responsive to the changing healthcare landscape.
