We are still brimming with appreciation following our 2026 Gratitude Luncheon on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us. Your ongoing support for Hospice Giving Foundation and our mission means everything to us. We’re especially grateful to our generous sponsors Berlin Communications, Tonya Antle, and Synchronicity Holistic for helping make the event a success.

We were also excited to welcome Dr. Laura Berman, grief educator, relationship therapist, and New York Times bestselling author, as our keynote speaker. Her dedication to helping others heal through love after loss inspires us. We can’t wait to read her new book when it comes out in October!

Finally, thank you to The Lodge at Pebble Beach and their team for hosting our event.

Our team is carrying this gratitude forward as we work to make sure everyone in our community can live fully and die peacefully.

Today, we celebrate our Director of Development, Erik Lua, as he steps into a new chapter as CEO of Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services, effective April 1.

Erik has served Hospice Giving Foundation for three years, overseeing fundraising, events, and, most recently, marketing and communications.

CEO Erin White shares, “Erik has one of the best attitudes of anyone I’ve ever worked with. In fact, he’s pushed me to a higher standard in that regard. I’m thrilled to see him take his talent, skills, and kind, collaborative heart to the next level. Congratulations, Erik. We will miss you--and your family!”

Please join us in thanking Erik for his contributions in the comments below.

Nearly one year ago, we gathered our community to watch "The Last Ecstatic Days," a powerful film exploring one man’s final chapter and the care that surrounded him.

Today, we are proud to be a sponsor of its broadcast on PBS, helping bring this important conversation into even more homes.

At Hospice Giving Foundation, we believe dialogue is the first step toward dignity, preparation, and compassionate care.

You can now watch the film on PBS and continue the conversation. 💜 Click the link in our bio to learn more.

Today and every day, we honor the caregivers whose love, patience, and strength hold families together through life’s hardest moments.

Caregiving is a labor of the heart; physical, emotional, and often unseen. It’s showing up again and again for someone you love, even when it’s exhausting.

At Hospice Giving Foundation, we support caregivers through education, community connections, and programs that help ease the burden of caregiving. One way we’re doing that is through The Siobhan Greene Care & Dignity Fund, established to uphold comfort, dignity, and support for individuals and families in their most vulnerable times, including emotional and practical support for caregivers.

Our Story

Hospice Giving Foundation is an independent grant-making foundation exclusively focused on end-of-life care and preparedness. Unaffiliated with a direct patient care provider, Hospice Giving Foundation is the primary funder of a spectrum of qualified nonprofit agencies that deliver compassionate end-of-life care in Monterey and San Benito Counties. Since 1997, Hospice Giving Foundation has awarded grants totaling almost $25 million.

Through our community education, professional education, and end-of-life resources, Hospice Giving Foundation provides a platform for the conversation about death and dying to increase people’s understanding, acceptance, and preparedness. Understanding that each of us may find some approaches more accessible than others, Hospice Giving Foundation’s outreach programming employs varied methods, including workshops, talks, dinner conversations, online tools, and creative media. HG Foundation serves the community by investing in service providers and relevant community education to ensure needed services are available throughout our community; for all in our community.

Hospice Giving Foundation’s singular focus gives our communities a unique and valuable resource. Through our philanthropy programs we strive for highest donor satisfaction and are careful stewards of donor funds. Under the leadership and fiduciary guidance of our Board of Directors, HG Foundation is sustained by strategic investments, carefully disbursement of funds, and by being responsive to the changing healthcare landscape.
