A Norristown man who previously spent time behind bars for robbery was sent back to prison for using a box cutter to stab and seriously injure another man during an argument about a $200 debt stemming from a minor fender bender.

Saabir Lewis, 30, of the 700 block of Haws Avenue, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 10 to 20 years in a state correctional institution on charges of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, possessing an instrument of crime and terroristic threats in connection with the

April 11, 2025, violent assault, those convicted of a second crime of violence.
According to testimony and court records, Lewis previously served a 2-to-10-year prison term for a conviction of robbery in connection with a February 2016 incident in Norristown. Lewis was on parole for the 2016 crime at the time of the latest assault and potentially faces additional time from state officials for a parole violation. The victim told detectives that in January 2025, he and Lewis got into a minor fender bender in a parking lot and an agreement was reached whereby the victim would pay Lewis $200 for damage to a bumper.

The victim reported Lewis later sent him threatening text messages referencing the money owed for the damage, according to the arrest affidavit.
Prosecutors showed jurors the text messages during the trial.

The Montgomery County Department of Public Health on Friday released the name of the Italian restaurant possibly linked to a deadly Hepatitis A outbreak. Gino's Ristorante & Pizzeria in West Norriton will be closed until further notice while the investigation continues, officials said.

Health officials said 11 total cases are under investigation, with nine confirmed cases of Hepatitis A and two potential cases. Of the nine confirmed cases, seven people were hospitalized. To date, one death is confirmed and one additional death is under investigation.

The front window of Gino's now has a yellow sign that states the establishment is closed by the Montgomery County Department of Health. The Pennsylvania Department of Health provided this information on hepatitis A: "Hepatitis A is a highly contagious, vaccine-preventable, liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV) ranging in severity from mild infection lasting a few weeks to severe disease lasting several months. Hepatitis A usually spreads when a person unknowingly ingests the virus from objects, food, or drinks contaminated by small, undetected amounts of stool from an infected person. Hepatitis A can also spread from close personal contact with an infected person such as through s*x or caring for someone who is ill."
