Three years ago, Summerlane started with a vision for something that felt different.

Not clinical and cold, but warm and rooted. A place where people felt safe before they even sat down. A place where care wasn’t rushed and community mattered just as much as credentials.

What I didn’t realize then was how much the process of building it would grow me too.

Leadership stretched me. Motherhood refined me. Community humbled me. And this work continues to shape me in ways I never expected.

In this month’s newsletter, I’m sharing a reflection on the last three years of Summerlane, the quieter ways growth shows up in our lives, and why gentleness doesn’t have to be lost in the process of building something meaningful.

If you’d like to receive these monthly reflections, you can join the Summerlane newsletter through the link in our bio. 🩶

Today, on the exact day we celebrate 3 years of serving our community, I spent the afternoon doing something powerful — creating a vision board centered on wellness, discipline, and growth.
It felt like the perfect way to pause and reflect.

Three years ago, Summerlane was simply a vision: a place where people could feel safe, supported, and reminded that healing is possible. Since then, we’ve walked alongside so many individuals and families through hard seasons, breakthroughs, and new beginnings.

This vision board reminds me that the work we do in mental health is about intentional living, consistency, and believing in better days ahead.

Thank you to every client, supporter, partner, and community member who has trusted Summerlane over the past three years. Your stories matter, and it is an honor to walk this journey with you.

Here’s to continued growth, impact, and wellness in 2026 and beyond. 🌱

Today, we turn THREE 💛

Three years of showing up.
Three years of holding space.
Three years of walking alongside this beautiful community through growth, grief, healing, and hope.

What started as a vision is now a space filled with courage, connection, and so many meaningful stories.

To every client who has trusted us with your journey — thank you.
To our community who continues to support us — we’re so grateful.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Summerlane 🎂✨

Honoring Black History by Building Black Futures 🖤

Last Week, Summerlane Counseling had the honor of going to Carver High School in Montgomery — not just as guests, but as representation.

We was invited to speak to a group of seniors alongside other Black-owned businesses to share our stories — how we started, what we’ve overcome, and what it really takes to build something of your own.

Black History is not just about remembering the past.

It’s about pouring into the future.

We talked about:
✨ Entrepreneurship and stepping out on faith
✨ The courage it takes to start before you feel “ready”
✨ The stressors that come with graduating and entering the real world
✨ Protecting your mental health while building your dreams

As these seniors prepare to walk across that stage and into adulthood, I wanted them to know this:
You can be ambitious and anxious.

You can be gifted and still growing.

You can build success without sacrificing your mental health.

Representation matters.

Access matters.

Conversation matters.

Thank you to Carver High School & Cassie Rockette Rogers for creating space for Black-owned businesses to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation.

At Summerlane Counseling, we believe in healing, growth, and legacy — in every season of life.

February isn’t just about romantic love.
It’s about how you speak to yourself.
Our therapists pulled affirmation cards and this is what came out… 💕

They didn’t just want cute.
They wanted conversation.
And we gave them both. 💕
Honored to sit on the Woman 2 Woman Galentines panel talking about happiness, healing, and healthy relationships.
Because the truth is —
You can’t build a healthy relationship if you don’t know how to build a healthy you.
Grateful for the room.
Grateful for the impact.
Grateful to represent Summerlane Counseling in spaces that matter.

Therapy works.

But you know what else works?
Connection. Community. Shared laughter. Honest conversations.

Formal therapy gives you space to process, heal, and grow. And sometimes, healing also happens when you’re sitting beside someone who gets it… learning something new… or simply showing up for yourself in a different way.

That’s why we love hosting events alongside the work we do in the therapy room. They’re relaxed, welcoming, and designed to help you build a life you don’t need to escape — one small step at a time.

We’d love to see you at one of our upcoming events:
- Montgomery Open House, March 16th l 6PM
- Selma Open House, March 30th | 6PM
- Autism Awareness Field Day, April 18th | 1-3PM

Come as you are. There’s a seat for you here. 🤍

At Summerlane Counseling, we believe love is more than a feeling — it’s a decision.
A decision to grow.
A decision to heal.
A decision to break cycles.
A decision to choose better.
This year, choose love that feels safe, secure, and aligned.
And don’t forget… that includes loving YOU. ✨
