CRS Parent Connection

CRS Parent Connection Our continuum-of-care approach means that support and resources are available to Alabamians with disabilities at every stage of life.

This page will be a source of information for all Family Involvement Activities sponsored by the Children's Rehabilitation Service Parent Connection Program in Alabama. Children's Rehabilitation Service (CRS) is a statewide system of services for children with special health care needs and their families, and adults with hemophilia. Every county in Alabama is served through a network of 14 community-based offices staffed with skilled professionals who provide quality medical, rehabilitative, and educational support services. CRS is a division of the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS), the state's lead agency serving Alabamians with disabilities, and helping to enable them to reach their maximum potential.

We’re so grateful for this heartfelt note of thanks to our Montgomery CRS Clinic team! 💙 The family shared their appreciation for the compassionate care they received at our ACT Clinic when they brought their son in for an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device. Their kind words remind us why we do what we do.

The Arc of Gulf Coast Alabama is proud to offer EPIC Classes, a program designed to empower self-advocates and families through education and advocacy. EPIC stands for Educate, Promote, Inclusion for Champions, and that is exactly what these classes are about.

Through EPIC, participants gain valuable tools to better understand their rights and learn how to speak up for themselves and others. Classes also provide resources for parents and caregivers, creating a supportive environment where everyone can grow together.

At its core, EPIC is about more than education. It is about building confidence, promoting inclusion, and ensuring that individuals with disabilities are recognized as champions in their own communities.

HOPE HEALS RECAP
By Cara Rain, CRS Parent Consultant, Mobile/Jackson

I am just reminiscing about those HOT humid summer days in the woods at Camp McDowell for Camp Hope Heals. Hope Heals was a camp created with YOU and all your beautiful differences in mind. Years after Katherine Wolfe had a stroke and her life changed, her and her family created Camp Hope Heals as a Summer camp for people and families that have had hardship in disability. People come from all over the WORLD to be together and let their beauty shine. There is no disability too big or small for Camp Hope Heals. They offer 5 days filled with activities, connections, talent shows, fun and fellowship where we can all be seen and loved the way we are. Applications for camp come out in January and a lottery system is in place to choose campers around March. Check out their website to get on their newsletter to be notified of opportunities to go to camp at: https://pulse.ly/ru4b4mqfcr

There are truly NO words to describe how amazing this camp is and the people we have become close friends with. After all, * YOU were meant to be here*.

Hope Heals creates sacred spaces of belonging and belovedness for families affected by disabilities to experience the hope of Christ within inter-ability communities. What this means What this means…

OCTOBER IS AUDIOLOGY AWARENESS MONTH!
LET’S HEAR FROM BRANTLEY’S MOM ...
Brantley is 8 years old and has been going to CRS for almost 7 years now. He is diagnosed with Bilateral Hearing Loss, due to a gene mutation. We have met some amazing representatives that have not only helped with his hearing aids and testing, but have also aided in his IEP at his school. I can call with any issue and have almost immediate answers or help. If they might be unsure, they point me in the right direction of who can help me. As a mom we all know how hard it can be getting a hold of help from care professionals and dealing with CRS has been a breeze for my family. We adore Rebecca and Rebeckah! They are so sweet and attentive to my young guy. They get on a personal level with him and it makes the care and help they provide so much sweeter for our family. I recommend the Mobile CRS facility to anyone that may benefit and qualify They have been a true blessing to Brantley and our family over the years. They have made my job as mom easier in many ways.
