School breaks can be a gift… and they can also be emotionally overwhelming for teens. More downtime, disrupted routines, and holiday expectations can stir up anxiety, comparison, or pressure to “be okay." But as parents, we can learn to support them to the best of our ability.

At Works of Wonder Therapy, we help teens and families grow in communication, emotional awareness, and spiritual grounding, especially during the seasons that feel heavy or overwhelming.

What is one thing you enjoy doing with your teen during the holiday season?

Family gatherings can bring connection, joy, nostalgia… and sometimes stress.

We at Works of Wonder Therapy recognize that every family carries its own patterns, expectations, and unspoken rules. Boundaries aren’t walls, they’re healthy limits that help you stay grounded, safe, and connected without losing yourself.

We work to help individuals, couples, and families navigate boundary-setting with confidence and clarity, especially during seasons when family systems feel louder than usual. Send us a message and we can get your first session booked as soon as this week.

What’s one boundary that helps you feel present during the holidays?

The holidays have a way of turning the volume up on our family systems.Old roles, unspoken expectations, unresolved tension, and childhood dynamics often resurface, even when we’ve grown, healed, or changed.

If you’re feeling overstimulated, triggered, or emotionally stretched, nothing is “wrong” with you. You’re simply bumping into patterns that were formed long before adulthood. Therapy helps you understand these systems with clarity instead of shame, and gives you tools to stay grounded, compassionate, and connected.

At Works of Wonder Therapy, we help individuals, couples, and families navigate the holidays with steadiness, self-awareness, and grace.

Which is harder for you during the holidays: managing expectations or managing emotions?

The holidays can feel joyful and overwhelming. Both can be true at the same time.

If you’re feeling stretched thin, emotionally heavy, or simply not yourself this season, you’re not alone.
Many people experience stress, grief, sensory overload, or pressure during this time of year.

Here are a few gentle supports that can help:
-Take small breaks when you feel overstimulated
-Take time to name what you’re feeling.
-Set boundaries around time, energy, and commitments
-Let grace guide your expectations

At Works of Wonder Therapy, we’re here to support you through the tension of the season with care, compassion, and clinically-based treatment.

The holidays can hold both beauty and heaviness.Advent invites us to anticipate hope, yet many still feel the weight of grief, anxiety, or unmet expectations this time of year.

The truth is, we live in a world marked by brokenness, and God understands the complexity of human emotion far more deeply than we do.
During Advent, we remember the Light that came into the world: Jesus, who steps into our sorrow, our stress, and our longing. He doesn’t demand that we “be okay.”He meets us in the middle of what hurts and gently guides us toward his healing.

At Works of Wonder Therapy, we honor both your emotional reality and your spiritual life. You’re allowed to feel it all. The joy, the ache, the gratitude, the overwhelm, and still draw near to the One who brings hope.

What part of Advent brings you the most comfort this year? We’d love to hear.
