CPAP is often used to treat sleep apnoea in children, but here’s what many parents don’t hear:

👉 It doesn’t fix the problem — it just manages the symptoms.
👉 Kids are still growing. Their airway issues (like big tonsils, allergies, mouth breathing, or jaw problems) can often be treated or even reversed.
👉 CPAP masks can be uncomfortable and hard for kids to tolerate long-term.
👉 Early treatment of the cause — not just the symptoms — means better sleep, healthier development, and no lifelong machine.

Yes, CPAP has its place — especially when other treatments don’t work or aren’t possible.

But for most children, the goal should be to find and fix what’s causing the problem — not just mask it. 🎯

💬 Let’s start asking why our kids can’t breathe at night — not just how to keep their airway open.

A functional approach to nasal breathing can address many causes of mouth breathing 😮‍💨

Start with a 3 minute nasal breathing test 👃 if you can’t pass that we would recommend an evaluation with an ENT to see if there may be a structural component!

Small steps can lead to BIG changes in your airway health!

It’s important to note that the knowledge and understanding of orofacial myofunctional therapy can vary among healthcare providers based on their training, experience, and specific areas of expertise. If you have questions about orofacial myofunctional therapy, it’s always a good idea to consult with a qualified healthcare professional! 👃👄👅😁

The changes in upper airway microbiome are highly associated with pediatric OSA. The relative abundance of some bacteria was significantly different between OSA and non-OSA. These bacteria have the potential to become new diagnostic and early warning biomarkers.
