“Most people think sequoias survive because they're massive.

But that's not even close to the real reason.

If you’ve ever had the privilege standing beside one of these giants, you’ll find it hard NOT to think of resilience.

These trees can live through droughts, fires, storms, and climate shifts that would kill almost anything else.

But as an engineer this is what I’m fixated on:

The tallest tree in the world has roots that only go 6-12 feet deep.

That should be impossible. A 300-foot tree with shallow roots makes no sense from an engineering perspective.

But… Sequoias don't survive alone.

Their root systems spread 50-80 feet wide and interweave with every other sequoia around them.

They share nutrients, water, and structural support. When storms come in, they support each other.

The forest is the system: Not the individual trees.

I couldn't stop thinking about this.

Most people try to build resilience by making themselves bigger, stronger, more independent. They stockpile resources, they build higher walls, they go it alone.

But the most resilient systems in nature are interconnected.

MOTHER TREE

OCTOBER 20 - JANUARY 26

6 - 8:30PM PST

We will be meeting 7 evenings to connect with the Mother Tree. To root, listen, paint, and become re-sourced. As we find our relationship to the Mother Tree, perhaps we will re-member how to share re-sources, and create more re-silience and communal nurturing. Mother trees are the large, ancient trees that play a significant role in the health of our ecosystem. They are connected to hundreds of other trees and fungi through underground mycortthizal networks. Mother trees are wisdom elders, offering us spiritual guidance, and healing. May we root to rise - together, while becoming kin to our forest friends.

And what might we learn about being good earth stewards, with trees as our teachers? Is there a Mother Tree calling your name? Which tree do you find yourself visiting often? Perhaps it is time to connect on a deeper level and bring your tree onto a canvas.

During our meeting times, we will drop in with the Mother Tree, receive messages, share, and paint what is arising. We work with acrylic paints and lots of juicy layers on a large canvas. You do not need any painting experience to join us. The trees will paint through us, if we allow them in…

Need to miss a session? No problem, all zoom sessions will be recorded and sent to you after each meeting.

Art supply list given upon registration. Zero art experience is needed. Intentional Creativity is for everyone.

Step into the circle, holding your unique piece of the red thread.

Bring an offering to the earth. We thrive in reciprocity.

Listen for the voice of the plants who have a message to share and medicine for healing. Bring their ancient wisdom forward.

Unwrap your defenses. Lay your truth bare. And have the courage to be seen as you are.

Pray with your tender and open heart so they can hear what hurts.

Allow gratitude in for this moment and the opportunity to feel alive.

Sense every place in your body as the most important gift to yourself. Stay here, holding yourself in steady, sacred presence.

Drop into your natural state of wild and precious love with each drumbeat.

Feel the vibration and power of the animals echo through and around you. Let your animal self breathe.

Sing with your ancestors to honor them and the old ways. Remember your part in the mending of your bloodlines. Ask for support. Take another step forward.

Move your vessel through time and space, without thought or whisper. Let your body lead from its primal knowing.

Purify yourself in the elements and
saturate yourself with wonder, the joy of being alive.

Send rippling waves of joy and communal healing across the universe for all beings everywhere.

Rest and nurture yourself well. Notice how you are growing and make another offering as the new sun rises. Begin again.

Not the pretty dance.

Not the pretty pretty, pick me, pick me dance.
But the claw our way back into the belly.

Of the sacred, sensual animal dance.

The unhinged, unplugged, cat is out of its box dance.

The holding the precious moment in the palms.

Of our hands and feet dance.

We have come to be danced.
Not the jiffy b***y, shake your b***y for him dance.

But the wring the sadness from our skin dance.

The blow the chip off our shoulder dance.

The slap the apology from our posture dance.

We have come to be danced.

Not the monkey see, monkey do dance.

One two dance like you.

One two three, dance like me dance but the grave robber, tomb stalker.

Tearing scabs and scars open dance.

The rub the rhythm raw against our soul dance.

We have come to be danced.

Not the nice, invisible, self-conscious shuffle.

But the matted hair flying, voodoo mama.

Shaman shakin’ ancient bones dance.

The strip us from our casings, return our wings.

Sharpen our claws and tongues dance.

The shed dead cells and slip into.

The luminous skin of love dance.

We have come to be danced.

Not the hold our breath and wallow in the shallow end of the floor dance.

But the meeting of the trinity, the body breath and beat dance.

The shout hallelujah from the top of our thighs dance.

The mother may I? Yes you may take ten giant leaps dance.

The olly olly oxen free free free dance.

The everyone can come to our heaven dance.

We have come to be danced.

Where the kingdom’s collide.

In the cathedral of flesh.

To burn back into the light.

To unravel, to play, to fly, to pray.

To root in skin sanctuary.

We have come to be danced.

We have come.
