Maintain the person's normal routine,

When planning holidays with someone with dementia, prioritize their comfort, routine, and safety. Avoid disruption by sticking to their regular routine as much as possible. Celebrating over lunch or brunch instead of an evening meal can work around evening confusion (sundowning) if it affects person living with dementia.

Simplify your holiday plans by focusing on things that bring happiness. Let go of overwhelming, stressful, or risky activities. Reduce tasks to avoid stress. Limit guests. Take time for relaxation before and after events. Build new traditions that are less stressful. Your family and friends will understand and will help just communicate and ask.
