Virabhadrasana III (Warrior III Pose)
Alternatives: Standing Forward Bend, Warrior I & II, Half Moon.
Considerations:
• Keep hips in alignment w/ shoulders, bend extended and/or standing leg until there is flexibility & strength to extend.
• Engage core, lengthens spine, stabilize standing leg (ankle) * avoid locking the knee.
Variations:
• Use a wall, chair, and or blocks for hands or extended leg for balance & support (see photo where I am holding onto the railing).
Practice, practice, practice, that's why it is called a yoga practice. Every day brings new challenges. The mind & body connection is to listen and align, flow, and/or balance according to where you are in that moment (literally & figuratively). It is a beautiful dance between challenging and honoring yourself.
