Details below regarding GENEALOGY DAY 2026 at Carnegie Library on Forbes Avenue on Sunday, February 22nd, Noon to 4pm.

Join genealogy societies and libraries from Western Pennsylvania for help with your research and information about their collections. CLP’s Family & Local History Department and Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society have planned workshops for beginners and experts alike.

Speakers for the day are:
1:00 pm Lineage Society Panel Discussion with WPGS First Families; Pittsburgh Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution; Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War; Society of Mayflower Descendants in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
2:15 pm “Research in the Coroner Case Files” with David Grinnell
3:30 pm Genealogy Open Mic

Exhibitors include WPGS, Family & Local History Department from Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Weir Genealogy Room from the Butler Public Library, Armstrong County Historical Museum and Genealogy Society, Davis * Camp, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Heinz History Center, Jewish Genealogy Society of Pittsburgh, North Hills Genealogists, Pittsburgh Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Society of Mayflower Descendants in Pennsylvania, and the University of Pittsburgh.

FamilySearch shared several "coming attractions" on their 2026 to-do list this week. Along with the addition of still more family history records from all over the world, they plan to expand their Full-Text Search to include reading old handwriting in more languages, making them more easily searchable for ancestors' names. They're also planning new features for the Family Tree, new projects in Labs, and more.
