Injuries are frustrating. Comebacks are sweet.
I often remind clients (and myself) that setbacks can be opportunities to come back stronger. I know that can sound cliché when you’re injured— but it’s true.
Injury forces us to slow down, address weaknesses, fix training errors, and refocus on what really matters (spoiler: it’s not our weekly mileage).
When I broke my foot 6 months ago, I was bummed to cancel races and hang up the running shoes for a while. But I held onto Romans 8:28 which tells us God will work all things for our good and prayed that’d He’d use it. And He did 🙌🏻
That season created space for deeper friendships, growing 6:33, and hiring two amazing team members. And I came back to racing stronger— a 5:02 at NC 70.3 this past weekend was a big PR!! So thankful for for the guidance and support that helped me get there, and for my training pals💗
But most importantly, that season renewed my gratitude for my body, for the gift of movement, and for my not-so-normal genuine love of grueling endurance sports🤪. If you’re facing a setback, I encourage you to lean into it. Focus on what you can control, surrender what you can’t, ask God to use it for your good and His glory. Trust that He will🤍
