Easter is a reminder that no matter how dark things may feel…
there is always hope, there is always a new beginning.

Recovery is the same way.
It’s about second chances, growth, and believing that a better life is possible—even when it doesn’t feel like it yet.

Today, we celebrate hope.
We celebrate healing.
We celebrate YOU.

From our family to yours—
Happy Easter. Stay safe, stay strong, and remember… you’re never alone. ❤️

Grateful for the opportunity to continue learning and strengthening how we show up for our community.

A big thank you to Jonathan Kessler from the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center for spending Friday afternoon with our Berkeley County team, providing su***de prevention training.

These conversations matter.
The ability to recognize early warning signs, engage with intention, and connect individuals to support can change — and save — lives.

At WakeUp Carolina , we are committed to being proactive, not reactive. The more we learn, the better we can identify those who may be struggling and step in before it’s too late.

This is how we build a stronger, safer community — together.

Xylazine (“Tranq”) is changing the game. ⚠

This isn’t just opioids anymore.

Xylazine is a veterinary sedative now showing up in the drug supply—often mixed with fentanyl, he**in, co***ne, and more.
Most people don’t even know it’s there.

Here’s what makes it dangerous
• Not an opioid → Narcan doesn’t fully reverse it
• Causes extreme sedation and slowed breathing
• Linked to severe skin wounds and infections
• Increases overdose risk significantly

We’re seeing it more and more in our communities.

This isn’t about fear—it’s about awareness.

Carry Narcan.
Stay informed.

If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out.

MEET THE TEAM

At WakeUp Carolina, it’s not just about programs…
It’s about the people behind the mission ❤️‍

Today we’re proud to introduce:

👉 Lani Jumper
Harm Reduction Charleston County Outreach Coordinator

Lani is on the front lines every single day—making sure our community has access to life-saving resources like Narcan, fentanyl test strips, and xylazine test strips.

She leads outreach efforts across Charleston County, connecting with individuals and families exactly where they are—no judgment, just support.

💡 Certified Peer Support Specialist
💡 SMART Recovery Facilitator

But more than titles…
Lani brings heart, compassion, and real-world understanding to everything she does.

Her approach is simple but powerful:
👉 Meet people where they are
👉 Provide real tools that save lives
👉 Help others find hope again

Because of Lani, countless individuals in our community are safer, supported, and one step closer to recovery.

When she’s not out serving the community, you’ll find her spending time with family, friends, and her “crazy little dog” Grace

Drop some love for Lani in the comments 👇

And stay tuned… we’ll be introducing more of the incredible team behind WakeUp Carolina each week.

Two years ago, we opened the doors to our WakeUp Carolina office in Moncks Corner at 325 E. Main Street with one mission in mind—serve, support, and walk alongside our community.

Today, we celebrate over 2 years in Berkeley County… and what a journey it’s been.

From day one, the local community showed up. The recovery community showed up. And together, we’ve built something bigger than a program—we’ve built a movement of connection, hope, and healing.

Every meeting attended.
Every conversation had.
Every life touched.

It all matters. And it all adds up.

This work doesn’t happen alone—it takes all of us. The individuals walking through our doors, the families standing beside them, our partners, volunteers, and every single person who believes in recovery… you are the reason this works.

We are beyond grateful for the trust, the support, and the opportunity to serve Berkeley County over these past two years.

And the best part?

We’re just getting started.

Year 3… we’re coming for you. 💪
