At 39 weeks pregnant, this was my last client to give birth before I went on maternity leave.
It was beautiful, peaceful, powerful and so rewarding 🩵
Through my last pregnancy, I supported many families through the great, the good, the bad and the terrible. I held Mother’s through the best days of their lives and the absolute worst.
I was anxious about bringing all of these birth stories into my own birth. It’s hard to be a birth worker and be pregnant yourself. You see so much, you know so much, and you give so much of yourself.
This family, and this birth above, was selfishly exactly what I needed to witness while I waited on my own little babe. It was a reminder of why I do this. That things can go absolutely wonderfully. That prep work makes a difference. How important it is to pick your birth team. And that we really are witnessing a miracle.
This moment captured in the pictures is absolutely irreplaceable.
