From occupational therapy to dental care, their health center helped support Kiki’s son's recovery and gave her family a place to turn when they needed it most.

For 2.5 million families like hers, community health centers like Neighborhood are more than a provider. They are a steady source of care, compassion, and support when life takes an unexpected turn. New York should invest $300 million in community health centers so more families can count on that care, too.

Investing in primary care means healthier communities, lower costs, and better outcomes for everyone.

Research shows that an increase of one primary care physician per 10,000 people can generate 11% fewer hospital visits, 7% fewer surgeries, and 5.5% fewer emergency department visits.

The Primary Care Investment Act (S1634/A1915A) will help New York make this critical investment.

Ann Marie knows what it means to count on a community health center. She counted on her health center as a child. Today, her children, grandchildren, friends,
and family count on it too. She believes in it so deeply that now, she works there.
Her story is personal, but it’s also shared by more than 2.5 million New Yorkers who
count on community health centers for care close to home.

Ms. Macias-Torres brings over 26 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, including her roles as Assistant Executive Director for Community Innovations for The Arc Westchester and Executive Director of SPARC, Inc. Her steadfast commitment to health equity, accessibility, and community-driven solutions for underserved populations makes her an exceptional addition to our Board.

Thank you to our partners Feeding Westchester and Anthem Health for joining us on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at WCHC Mount Vernon for our Eat Well Live Well Information Session in honor of National Nutrition Month!

Together, we share a deep belief that good nutrition is the foundation of good health especially for those managing diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Patients are counting on us. Now we need Albany to do its part by investing $300 million in Community Health Centers and protecting 340B.
