I had a meeting with Dr. Byrnes this past Wednesday, and I’ve had some problems figuring exactly what to write.
They had postponed the second dose of my treatment due to low white blood cell counts, low plasma, and dropping kidney and liver function. While the numbers increased on the first few categories, my liver numbers have been declining still.
Due to my liver dropping so much function, Dr. Byrnes said that the time has come to determine if I want to keep fighting which can lead to a loss in quality of life, or focus on making myself more comfortable and in less pain.
A liver transplant sadly is not an option, as the colon cancer is what spread to my liver, then cancer cells would just reinfect the liver.

I had more fluid taken on. Dr. Byrnes limited me to only having 5 liters drawn off as the 7 liters was causing some kidney issues, but the radiologist had me cut off at 3 because my blood pressure was really low today. (It dropped from 99 to 95 with by the time we hit 3 liters, as to why they cut me off there.) Still, my appetite came back, so I stopped off at Dino's in London for some breadsticks and a roni lovers individual pizza.

Insurance approved the new treatment, which I just started today. Three pills with breakfast, and three with dinner. So far I've only had one definite side effect, which may not have been the pills fault as I have it off and on anyway.

Just got done with the fluid drainage. 7 liters of fluid. I feel so much better. Just waiting for observation.

Some bad news. My cancer numbers are still climbing, and my CT scan showed that the tumors have started growing again. Dr. Byrnes is going to switch me to a new medication. It's a new medication that is a pill, so no having to haul the cancer ball around for 46 hours.
The CT scan did show why my belly has been so distended. Thankfully, it's not an issue with my bladder again. It's fluid build up from the tumors. She's going to have the radiologist set up a time for me to go in and have it drained, which should help several of the issues I've been having this month. Best of all, it's an outpatient procedure, so I won't have to stay overnight.

This week or two has been a bit rough, with pain in my right abdominal area. I have a chest and abdominal CT scan next week, so hopefully we'll get a chance to figure out what's causing it. (In addition to seeing if the tumors are staying stable and not growing.) I'm doing better today so far, so hopefully whatever is causing the pain is working it's way out of my system.
I've been having some more issues with my neuropathy, but that's to be expected with the colder weather moving in. My legs were a little wobblier than normal yesterday, and I was running a bit low on energy walking into the hospital. (It didn't help that I had to park out in the fifth row in the parking lot as all the other spaces were full. At least it was a nice day out.)
Other than those issues, my treatment went pretty smoothly. If anything, my issues yesterday show that I need to get better about getting up and exercising a bit more, even if I'm having pain. I shouldn't have been laying in bed so much.
And as always, thanks for all the well wishes, prayers, and encouragement.

Today wasn't the greatest. The good things were I did get treatment this week, my laptop didn't break when it slid off the chair tray and landed upside downtrend, and I got to the hospital before the rain hit.
The bad news is that my cancer numbers are still climbing, despite the CT scans showing no growth. (1550 on the colon cancer. 247 on the pancreatic cancer.) Dr. Byrnes is leaving me on my current meds for now, but is trying to get my insurance to bump my next CT scan to November from December.
While I did get a urine sample out this time, My gut started hurting and had to do a self catheter at the hospital around 1 or 2. The nurse helping me today was concerned, as I had to self catheter three times last week, so she had me wait until another nurse could bring a portable belly scanner. (I was originally supposed to be doing it in the morning and at night everyday, but was getting good enough flow that it only seemed to work once or so a month, so I was only doing it when I felt I needed it.) The scan shoed I still had a liter left in my bladder, so they did a catheter again. It didn't get much at all, so they arranged for a full ultrasound to look for the possibility of an obstruction. I'm waiting to hear back on the results of it now. Keep your fingers crossed that it works out as something that's an easy fix.

Oddly enough, they pushed back my treatment yesterday, despite it being 94 according to my sheet. (Which they allowed me to get treatment last time with that same amount.) The only thing I can think of is that the Doctor wasn't there, and I saw the Nurse practitioner instead.

My platelets were at 94, so I got treatment this week. The first time in a while that I got it on schedule with no delays. My neuropathy is acting up today though, so I'm gonna take an "easy" day today and huddle in bed. It's doing better after a hot shower though.
