Today's Wall Street Journal talks about the Citizen Scientists taking on the big data in genomics. Genomera's Chief Scientist, Raymond McCauley, and Advisor, Melanie Swan, are featured for their group study that explored the MTHFR gene and homocysteine. They used Genomera as the platform to conduct the study.

Sharon Terry, President and CEO of Genetic Alliance, is also featured as a patient advocate and non-doctor in an MD world, who went on to publish dozens of times in scientific journals. Sharon supports the efforts of Genomera and invited Greg Biggers, CEO, to Genetic Alliance's advisory board earlier this year.

People who are curious about science but weary and wary of the status quo found in academic studies, have begun to organize and do research themselves: in their garages, in their kitchens, in silico, and in community labs. DIYbio, BioCurious, GenSpace, DIYgenomics and Genomera are just a few of these grassroots organizations.
