We’re still reflecting on an incredible weekend at the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation Congress.

At Boomerang Medical, our mission is grounded in listening, learning, and partnering with the people who know this space best; patients, physicians, researchers, and advocates. This weekend reinforced just how much progress is being made, and how much more work remains to support those living with IBD.

It was a pleasure connecting with so many leaders in gastroenterology and clinical research—we learned a tremendous amount and truly appreciate the partnership and shared commitment to progress.

For those with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), stress isn’t just a mental challenge — it can trigger or worsen flare-ups, making an already difficult condition harder to manage. Managing stress is essential for improving quality of life. Whether through mindfulness, exercise, therapy, or simply taking time to relax, stress management plays a crucial role in IBD care.

Let's use today, National Stress Awareness Day, to raise awareness and encourage more conversations about the impacts of stress on health. Taking care of mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical well-being.

We recently reconnected with former Lefteroff Intern Cameron Binney, who interned with us in 2022. Congratulations to Cameron who has since graduated from Auburn University with degrees in Business Analytics and Finance! He is now a financial analyst at Georgia-Pacific in their consumer products division.

During his time with Boomerang Medical and Fogarty Innovation, Cameron worked on multiple projects including an in-depth competitive landscape analysis and pivotal trial endpoint analysis with fellow intern AJ. Together, they researched pivotal trials, documenting various endpoints and mapping out a trial plan.

Cameron shared, “Everyone from the team was very welcoming and willing to answer any questions I might have had. I really enjoyed the internship experience and learned a great deal about the innovative medtech space.”

A round of applause for AJ Sheinberg, Boomerang Medical’s former Lefteroff Intern! AJ graduated from the University of Michigan last year with a degree in Biology and a minor in Sociology of Health and Medicine. He has since moved to New York City and is now working at The Dedham Group, a boutique healthcare consulting firm specializing in market access for oncology brands.

TeamBoom witnessed AJ’s commitment and passion for medical innovation up close. He co-led a literature review to help establish endpoints for an early feasibility study, performed a competitive landscape analysis, and developed a clinical enrollment strategy, among other impactful projects.

Even though we collaborated back in 2022, the work you did continues to resonate today, AJ. We’re thrilled to see all that you have accomplished since your time with Boomerang Medical and Fogarty Innovation!

Boomerang Medical is excited to reconnect with our former interns and share what they are up to today! First up is Ashvin Irrinki, who interned with us last summer. Ashvin recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and has now started medical school at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Congratulations, Ashvin! 🎓

We witnessed Ashvin’s dedication and enthusiasm for medical innovation and clinical trials firsthand. During his internship, he worked on various clinical operations projects, including a literature review on patients with IBD and J-pouch surgeries, documented FDA calls related to clinical trial timelines, attended site initiation visits, and ensured that clinical sites had all the necessary documentation for a smooth onboarding process.

Ashvin, thank you for your contributions to TeamBoom. Congratulations on this exciting new chapter in your medical career at USC! We wish you all the best and hope to stay in touch.

Boomerang Medical is thrilled to welcome another summer intern, Michael Atife! Hailing from the University of Oxford, Michael brings great experience and passion. As the Vice President and Founding Member of the Oxford University Black Medics' Society and an Academia Officer for the charity Melanin Medics, Michael has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing medical education for all.

With fellow intern Tania, Michael is excited to delve deeper into the medical industry and explore the intersection of medicine, research, and entrepreneurship.
