🏈 Ever watch ECMO simulation like you’re watching football? Standing up. Talking to the TV. “Calling plays” like the people on the TV can hear them.

It felt less like a lecture…and more like a championship game.

That’s intentional.

At Integration Health’s Simulation Center, we create immersive, high-fidelity simulation experiences that drive:
• Team communication
• Clinical anticipation
• Real-time problem solving
• Knowledge retention

Engagement isn’t accidental. It’s designed.

📈 ECMO is expanding. Indications are growing. Expectations are higher than ever. That’s why education and simulation matter and why Integration Health was happy to support the Bridging Life Symposium.

🔹 Simulation exposes gaps before patients do
🔹 Structured education builds confidence across disciplines
🔹 Repetition improves crisis performance
🔹 Cannulation training strengthens technical precision
🔹 Team-based scenarios improve communication under pressure

When teams train together, outcomes improve.
When programs invest in education, variability decreases.
When simulation is realistic, confidence translates to the bedside.

At Integration Health, we partner with hospitals to build sustainable systems; combining program development, high-fidelity simulation, and experienced ECMO staffing & precepting support to strengthen programs long-term.

If you’re looking to elevate your ECMO program... not just maintain... let’s connect.

🫀 🫁 “Houston, we have a problem.” In critical care and ECMO, recognizing the problem early and knowing how to respond, can change everything.

That’s why Integration Health proud to support the Feb 11–12 Bridging Life Critical Care Symposium in Houston. This two-day, multidisciplinary gathering is designed to strengthen decision-making, technical skills, and team communication for caring for patients with severe heart and lung failure requiring ECMO, aligned with ELSO guidelines.

We’ll be supporting the experience in two ways:
Simulation support: Renee Ellis, Director of Clinical Accounts, will be helping bring ECMO simulations to life.
Exhibitor booth: Nicole Smith-Roberts, VP of Sales, will be available to talk through how we support ECMO programs through consulting, training, and staffing.

From device utilization and hemodynamics to CRRT, neurologic considerations, infection prevention, mobilization, and nutrition, this gathering focuses on what matters when the stakes are highest.

If you’re attending, stop by our booth or join us during the simulations. Let’s talk about how teams prepare for the moments when it really matters.

Kudos to Tracee Kennon, MBA, BSN, CCRN and team on all your hard work!

👶 In our youngest ECMO patients, there are significant neurologic and developmental considerations that are best managed by early incorporation of trained pediatric occupational and physical therapists. In addition to Early Mobility with rehab services, the ICU Liberation Bundle encourages early incorporation of family into care for critically ill patients to optimize recovery and outcomes.

🩸Nearly 90% of VA-ECMO patients receive at least one transfusion. New observational data suggests a liberal transfusion strategy may offer an early survival benefit in the first 2–3 days of VA-ECMO… with no difference after that.

Does your current practice align?

❤️ Mathias is a 16-year-old ECMO survivor who recently joined us at our ECMO Collaborative Care & Mobilization Simulation Course to share his story with our learners.

After severe sepsis, Mathias spent 13 days on ECMO and survived despite amputations to all four extremities. His recovery was made possible not only by ECMO, but by coordinated, comprehensive multidisciplinary care that extended well beyond the ICU and into rehabilitation.

We are so thankful for his willingness to share and deepen the learning experience of everyone in attendance.

The Integration Health ECMO Collaborative Care & Mobilization Simulation Course supports real-world decision-making, safe mobilization, and patient-centered care across the entire ECMO journey.

ECMO Consulting, Training, and Staffing

ECMO Advantage has been providing ECMO services as a corporation since 2007. Our team of ECMO Advantage Specialists are the best of the best.

Founded in 2007 by Randy Bartilson, ECMO Advantage offers the most customized services to the greater Extracorporeal Community. Randy brought his unique perspective as an ECMO Specialist and Coordinator, combined with practical experience, to the cutting edge of our industry by gathering Specialist experts from around the United States. This premier team covers all aspects of staffing, training, and consulting to ECMO Programs across the country. At the onset of launching ECMO Advantage, it had been difficult to find staffing support outside of an immediate institutions’ team roster. Randy changed the landscape of the ExtraCorporeal Community by building his company to provide solutions that allow partners to pool or contract resources. As the ExtraCorporeal Community continues to evolve and grow, ECMO Advantage is leading the way.

ECMO Advantage is the pre-eminent provider of extracorporeal related services to the healthcare community. In 2018 we launched a new training facility unlike any other. EC², a state of the art ExtraCorporeal Education Center, houses two high-fidelity ICU simulation rooms connected by a state of the art control room. EC² is designed to create a comfortable, casual atmosphere while facilitating the most beneficial, wholistic simulation and complete learning experience.

Our classes have been filling up and we are opening new sessions as we are able. If you are interested in attending training guided by the ELSO Guidelines at EC², register soon while seats are available.
