🌟 Client Spotlight: JAMES! 🌟

James brings so much enthusiasm and initiative to our program every single day. He’s always the first to jump up and help—whether it’s cleaning, supporting other clients with projects, or stepping in when staff need an extra hand. His willingness to serve others is truly one of his superpowers.

He’s also been joining us on outings and loving every moment, which has been amazing to watch. James is incredibly smart, kind, and genuine, and his positive energy lifts everyone around him.

We’re so grateful to have James as part of the Devenir Supports family. He makes our days brighter just by being himself. 💙

Utah lawmakers are considering deep cuts to disability services, including a proposed 10% reduction to DSPD funding and the elimination of the Limited Supports Waiver. These changes would have devastating consequences for people with disabilities and their families who rely on Home and Community-Based Services to live safely and with dignity in their communities.

A state-commissioned rate study already found that DSPD providers are underpaid and struggling to maintain services, yet this budget proposal moves in the opposite direction. If these cuts move forward, the impact will be immediate and severe.

What’s at stake:

No movement off the DSPD waitlist until at least 2028

Worsening workforce shortages as DSP wages fall below entry-level jobs

Reduced safety and individualized supports, pushing services closer to an institutional model

Cuts to caregiver compensation, increasing strain on families

Elimination of the Limited Supports Waiver, leaving many without critical assistance

These services help people with disabilities work, participate in their communities, and avoid far more costly institutional care. Cutting funding will not save money—it will shift the burden onto families, emergency systems, and hospitals while eroding quality of life for thousands of Utahns.

This is not just a budget decision. It is a decision about who Utah chooses to support.

One for the books 🥹✨
We had the honor of taking our clients to their very first sit-down restaurant ever. From reading the menu, to placing their order, to waiting for the food and enjoying it at the table—every moment mattered.

It wasn’t just a meal. It was confidence, independence, and a brand-new experience shared together. These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do 💛

Here’s to firsts, big smiles, and memories that last far beyond the table. 🍽️✨

✨ Resilience in Action ✨
Big changes can be unexpected, and transitions aren’t always easy—but this amazing individual is handling it like an absolute champ. 💪💛

Even with a major move, she continues to show up each day with her bright, shining smile, a positive attitude, and ready to have fun. Her strength, flexibility, and joy are truly inspiring, and we are so proud of how she’s navigating this new chapter.

Change can be hard, but resilience like hers reminds us what’s possible. 🌟
