**🚨 Important Medicare Prescription Plan Update for 2026 🚨**

If you are **Medicare-eligible** but staying on an **employer group health plan in 2026**, you must **verify that your prescription drug coverage is *creditable***.

Due to changes from the **Inflation Reduction Act**, some employer prescription plans **may no longer qualify as creditable** in 2026. If your coverage is not creditable and you delay Medicare Part D, you could face **lifelong Part D late-enrollment penalties**. These penalties are permanent, unless you qualify for a low income subsidy.

**What to do now:**
✔️ Contact your **HR or Benefits Department**
✔️ Ask for written confirmation that your drug coverage is **creditable for Medicare Part D**

If you have **Medicare Part A**, it’s **easy and inexpensive** to add a standalone Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to protect yourself and still remain on your employer plan-if you are permitted to.

If you don't have Medicare Part A, it is easy to enroll, but may take a few weeks to process. Don't wait!

Medicare Enrollment Update: Important Dates & Options
✅ Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) ended on December 7, but don’t worry—there are still opportunities to make changes!

Special Enrollment Period (SEP)
If your Medicare Advantage (MA) plan ends on December 31, you qualify for a SEP:
📅 When: December 8 – February 28 (please enroll by the end of December for most comprehensive health insurance coverage beginning January1-waiting will mean gaps & no Part D)
🔹 Enroll in a new MA plan
🔹 Switch to Original Medicare (Part A & B) & add a Medicare Supplement
🔹 Add a Part D prescription drug plan
➡ Changes made by December 31 start January 1.

January 1 – March 31, 2026
Two key enrollment windows:
1️⃣ Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment (MA-OEP)
• Switch MA plans or return to Original Medicare (+ Part D option)
• Coverage starts the month after you enroll
2️⃣ General Enrollment Period (GEP)
• For those who missed signing up for Original Medicare
• Coverage starts the month after you enroll (late penalties may apply)

Medicare AEP-Deadline Dec 7⏰️

We have had many changes for 2026 and some of the changes will impact or even eliminate your coverage.
Important Information to consider:

If you have a **Medicare Supplement** review your **Prescription Drug Plan** for 2026 (if you haven't) — some Part D plans are ending, others have major premium and/or formulary changes. Ask for help, so you can understand your choices and make sure you have the plan you that best meets your needs in place.

📍 **Riverside County CA** Most Medicare Advantage PPO plans are ending. If you do nothing, your insurance will default to:
**Original Medicare A & B** with
**uncapped medical expenses** and
**no Part D-Prescription Drug Plan**
Please reach out for help with this!

If you have a PPO or an HMO plan ending, it will open an opportunity to enroll in a Medicare Supplement Plan or you can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan. This can be a good opportunity. Take advantage of it!

⚠️ Be aware that some PPO plans in other counties and states added new medical deductibles and increased premiums.

*It is also important to read updates from your medical group, if on an HMO or even PPO plans — some groups aren’t renewing contracts with certain insurance providers. This can impact your relationship with your primary care physician and require a change in medical providers or moving to an insurance company/plan that allows you to remain with your current medical group.
You have choices.

Be aware of the changes to your healthcare for January 1st, so there are no suprises.

❌ Avoid call centers — the agents are not always licensed and often try to steer you to plans that may not properly fit your needs.
