April is Canine Fitness Month (aka Active Dog Month!) 🐾💪

We’re celebrating with Leroy, who is putting in the work during hydrotherapy—adding resistance to build strength, improve stability, and keep his body moving the way it should!

Leroy is visiting us from out of town, and after finding us during their stay in Myrtle Beach, his mom knew he needed to be part of our Happy Dog Program while they’re here. Safe to say… he’s loving every minute of it!

Physical therapy is one of Leroy’s favorite activities back home, especially hydrotherapy, and it absolutely shows. His enthusiasm, drive, and strength in the water are what canine fitness is all about.

Leroy has HNPE—but you wouldn’t know it watching him! He’s thriving, staying active, and proving that with the right support and exercise, dogs can continue to live strong, happy, and full lives.

Here’s to keeping our dogs active, engaged, and feeling their best this April! 🐶💙

Mona Lisa is back with us for her second TPLO surgery, and while we’re supporting her healing with laser therapy on her new surgical site, we’re also focusing on something just as important: mental enrichment.

In this video, she’s working through her Outward Hound puzzle toy like a pro! When physical activity has to be limited, enrichment becomes essential. It helps prevent boredom, reduces stress, and keeps dogs feeling confident and fulfilled during recovery.

Mental stimulation = a calmer, happier patient—and that can make a big difference in the healing process.

Mona Lisa is showing us that even during recovery, you can still learn, play, and thrive 💪✨

Chuck has osteoarthritis everywhere… and like many of our senior patients, his lower back (lumbar spine) can be especially uncomfortable. That’s where our new shockwave therapy device comes in!

Shockwave therapy (also called extracorporeal shockwave therapy) uses high-energy sound waves delivered deep into the tissue to help reduce pain and stimulate healing.
These waves help:
✨ Decrease pain signals
✨ Improve blood flow
✨ Stimulate the body’s natural healing response
✨ Support tissue repair and reduce inflammation

For dogs like Chuck, this means more comfort, better mobility, and a higher quality of life 🙌

In this photo, Dr. Tom is treating Chuck’s lower lumbar area—targeting one of his most painful regions. Shockwave is non-invasive and works great alongside rehab, laser, and strengthening programs to keep our arthritic patients moving and feeling their best.

Chuck-O handled his session like a champ 💪 (and yes… he still demanded snacks after 😄)

If your pet struggles with arthritis, chronic pain, or mobility issues, shockwave therapy may be a great addition to their care plan!

Arthritis doesn’t mean the fun has to stop 💙

Meet Emmy — our sweet senior Newfie doodle who has osteoarthritis just about everywhere. But if you think that slows her down… think again!

Hydrotherapy is her happy place. The moment she walks in, she’s already telling us what to do — and today, she made it VERY clear… it was time to fill the tank! 😂

Water therapy helps take the pressure off her joints while keeping her strong, mobile, and doing what she loves most — moving.

Because aging and arthritis don’t mean giving up joy… they just mean finding new ways to keep it 💦🐾

Meet Billy at Boxerpalooza! 🐾

Billy is our agility boy and will be showing off some fun agility work that highlights strength, coordination, and body awareness. These types of exercises help build the power and control dogs need for both sport and everyday movement.

Billy recently earned his C-ATCH 5 title in CPE Agility, a huge accomplishment that reflects his hard work and athleticism! 🏆

Come watch Billy in action and see some agility fun!

Meet Bindi at Boxerpalooza! 🐾

Bindi has IVDD and has been working hard in therapy for about two years. During our demonstration, she’ll be showing some beginning balance and strength exercises that help build coordination, muscle memory, and support better ambulation.

These early rehab exercises may look simple, but they are incredibly important for helping dogs stay strong and keep moving. 💪

Come watch Bindi in action!

We’re excited to support this great event and the rescue dogs it benefits. Be sure to stop by, say hello, and learn a little more about how rehab and recovery can help our canine friends live their best lives.

Today we honor the brave four-legged heroes who have served beside our military members with unwavering loyalty and courage. 🇺🇸🐾

On K9 Veterans Day, we recognize the working dogs who have protected lives, detected danger, and stood fearlessly beside their handlers in service to our country. These incredible dogs are more than partners in duty—they are family, teammates, and heroes in their own right.

Their strength, intelligence, and dedication remind us just how powerful the bond between humans and dogs truly is. Today we thank the K9 veterans who served and remember those who gave everything. ❤️

Small dog, big work! 💪🐾

Bree, this sweet senior Maltese, is working through lateral cross overs in an inverted stance over cavaletti poles — and she’s making it look easy!

Bree came to us with a diagnosis of likely FCE with cervical inflammation (C2–C4) and lumbar inflammation (T8–T11). With spinal inflammation and neurological injury, rebuilding strength and coordination has to be done carefully and intentionally.

By working in an inverted stance, Bree shifts more weight into her forelimbs, helping strengthen the muscles that support the shoulders, neck, and spine. This position also encourages strong core engagement, which is critical for stabilizing the spine.

Adding the lateral cross over pattern makes the exercise even more powerful. As Bree steps across her body and over the cavaletti poles, she’s challenging both her brain and body by improving:

• Proprioception (body awareness)
• Neurological re-patterning
• Core and spinal stability
• Shoulder and forelimb strength
• Coordination and balance

The cavaletti poles encourage her to lift and place her feet with intention, helping improve stride control and overall limb awareness — something that can be disrupted with neurological conditions.

Exercises like this help rebuild those mind-to-muscle connections, allowing the nervous system to relearn proper movement patterns.

And Bree is proving that age is just a number. Senior dogs can still build strength, improve stability, and make incredible progress with the right program.

Way to go, Bree! 💕🐶

🐾 Incline Work: Small Hills, Big Benefits! 🐾

Today we’re sharing a great video sent in by one of our amazing clients of Max doing incline work on a ramp leading down to the river in his neighborhood — the perfect real-life training setup!

Incline work helps build hind limb and core strength, improve balance and joint stability, and support better gait mechanics and endurance. It’s a simple but powerful way to level up your dog’s conditioning using everyday environments.

Great job, Max — keep up the awesome work! 💪🐶
