Why do we perform Sun Salutations in yoga? 🙏🏻🌞

Sun Salutation or also called in Sanskrit Surya Namaskar is a sequence of asanas that we practice in yoga to give our body the opportunity to control our mind focusing on inhale and exhale through movements, to help the energy flow through all our channels or also called nadis, to increase the blood temperature and produce heat inside us to secure a safe practice.

In the spiritual level we surrender to the God Sun. Offering this prayer for giving us the main source of energy.

The Art of Adjustments 🙌

There are three types of adjustments in yoga:

1. Verbally. Students will follow the teacher’s instructions to enter into the asana, maintain it and leave from the posture without hurting themselves. 🗣️

2. With props such as belts, blocks, bolsters… They can be useful at the beginning to learn a proper alignment of the body in each asana. Mostly for beginners because their bodies are not ready yet to take the posture to a deeper level. Though with practice all is coming 😊

3. Safe hands on adjustments. Definitely, this one will take your practice to the next level. An experience teacher with the right knowledge will help you move forward and advance in your posture safely. 🙌

🕉️ the symbol itself represents the different states of our consciousness. The conscious mind, unconscious mind, dream state and the Supreme consciousness.

We usually start and end a yoga class with chanting the mantra Om.

It is said the the sound and vibration of AUM help us to connect with the energy of the universe.
