That Makes Sense OT

That Makes Sense OT Coaching/educational support for picky eating/problem feeding/ARFID/PFD: Responsive Feeding Approach.

That Makes Sense OT had its foundations in a craving for connection, joy, and creative solutions for therapy services in the real world. After hearing,
"That makes sense!" from so many parents, the name celebrates that there are practical ways to find solutions because we are all sensory beings. When children struggle with feeding difficulties, it affects every aspect of their lives. It became my passion early in my career to help families who feel drained by their mealtime power struggles to reconnect and find joy and harmony in the eating experience. It’s our mission to share evidence-based, practical tips and strategies with parents and children to give them the confidence and permission to create harmonious mealtimes that last a lifetime. We are dedicated to fill a unique niche in the feeding therapy world by combining feeding, motor and sensory advanced studies with psychosocial techniques to incorporate trauma-informed care techniques which helps to decrease anxiety around the eating process. Many feeding therapy programs focus on the doing, not on the being. The social-emotional part of feeding is where the real change takes place. Our vision is to support families so children can flourish and become the curious, adventurous little beings they were born to be. Our process includes drawing families into a partnership to find creative, real-life solutions to help their children succeed. Even with the hectic, stressed lifestyle many families live, we have found that they all crave to be understood, accepted, and most importantly, truly want the best for their children.

I had no idea when I scheduled today’s blog post just how much we would all need it. When I wrote it, the Minneapolis school shooting was weighing heavily on my heart. Since then, we’ve faced yet another school shooting, two tragic deaths seen live on social media, and the heartbreaking loss of another autistic child who eloped.
Although the post is written through the lens of feeding and sensory needs, the sensory reset I share is something that can support anyone. Scroll down to the section in white font to find the activities. They are simple, quick, and meant to be a great big hug for your nervous system.

Discover how the vagus nerve helps kids calm down, eat better, and connect. Try a simple reset to ease overwhelm at home or school.
