As told by Pat: This picture is of Mama and Papa with Mom and Pop Best when they brought Benny Best and Doreen Rossi down to the 1936 Texas Centennial in Dallas. Benny is barely visable in front of Mom Best and Doreen Rossi is standing in front by Carolyn.
The tall boy standing in front of Pop Best is Clayton Harte, who died in WW II as an Air Corps Officer. The colored girl is Lorraine Wilson. She washed many a dish for the St Louis cousins and Aunts and Uncles when they came in the summers.

When Mother died in ā€™04, this family had had 5 generations of Wilsons working for some of us from Aunt Emmaline (born a slave) to Lorraineā€™s grandchildren.

That was the first time Carolyn and Benny ever saw each other but I guess it was love at first sight. (Six and seven)

Carolyn always said it was neat because Benny tap danced for them on the front porch.

Our Annual Vissering Family Reunion will be on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, and will be at Harry James and Chassidy Visseringā€™s place again this year. Letā€™s say around noon. We are excited and look forward to seeing all of you there!
