It snowed ~3 inches in Nashville yesterday.

I grew up in Indiana, so 3 inches in the Midwest is nothing! Everyone and everything goes on, business as usual.

Which is why I was shocked that the whole city of Nashville seemingly shut down with some little flurries of snow.

🏋️‍♀️ workout classes were cancelled
☕️ multiple Starbucks locations closed
🏥 my husband who works at the hospital was even offered to stay overnight so he didn’t have to drive home

So why is there such a drastic difference in how two States handle circumstances?

Well, Indiana is used to bad weather, so they have the tools necessary to alleviate things like slick roads.

Nashville, on the other hand, doesn’t properly know how to deal with snow because it just doesn’t happen that often.

Okay — so why am I saying all of this?? Well, it got me thinking how that idea can be related to humans & their stress levels.

💡 People can have a similar life events happen to them, but cope/respond in completely different ways.

Why? Different people have different resources, environments, etc. that all play a role in how they react.

All of this to say…. Be patient. Be understanding. And be kind to people. Everyone has a different way of going through life, and compassion goes a long way ❤️ p.s. - if you’ve read this far, cheers to you! thanks for listening to my Ted talk
