If the ground is too wet for outside today, we’ll have the cafe inside in our front room. You will still need to bring chairs if needed, as we only have three chairs. If inside versus outside affects your mask status, please bring one to wear but still join us!

Art is a conversation, with yourself and others. Since death can be hard to talk about, making art is a way to move through, understand, and express what is happening in and around you when you are confronted with death or thinking about your life’s journey.

Much of the world’s art expresses hopes and fears about death and possible afterlives: from pyramids to gravestones, in paintings and movies, with poetry and memoirs - and so much more - we celebrate those who die and imagine our own passing.

In this class we will use specific art forms to “talk” about death. It is my hope that something will inspire you now and other ideas will linger for when they may come alive in the future.

Ashton, Toby, and Allison have signed up to help clean the cemetery on 8 May. If you're interested in joining, please consider signing up and let us know you're coming -- we might be able to have a distanced cafe on the cemetery grounds after cleanup or go to the Adventure Science Center pavilions around the corner.

The Nashville City Cemetery Association is looking for more volunteers to help out at their next clean up event! Volunteers sweep and protect headstones, remove branches, rake leaves, and provide some general lawn debris removal. This is also a great way to learn more about our city's oldest public cemetery!
