Honored to share my experience on faith and work at Lipscomb University during their Illuminate event ✨

I had the privilege of participating in a panel discussion on the intersection of faith and vocation, specifically focusing on how faith plays a role in healthcare and professional fulfillment. As a Christian working in the nonprofit sector at Dispensary of Hope,
it was an incredible opportunity to reflect on how my beliefs shape the way I approach my work and how my job in turn enhances my faith.

During the panel, we explored questions around:
-How faith influences our daily work in healthcare
-The ways faith impacts health behaviors and decision-making
-The role faith plays in job satisfaction and professional fulfillment

It was inspiring to engage in meaningful dialogue with other professionals, Merranda Holmes who also see their work as a calling to serve others.

I’m grateful to Lipscomb University and Thomas Campbell, Pharm.D. for hosting this event and fostering conversations that remind us of the deeper purpose behind our careers.

It was such a pleasure to reconnect and celebrate her “new” role as Dean of Pharmacy at Auburn University, Leigh Ann Ross, during her Ross on the Road to Nashville. Dr. Ross was not only a professor of mine during my time at Ole Miss but also a mentor who significantly shaped my professional journey. It was an honor to have interviewed her on my podcast, “Talk to Your Pharmacist,” where we discussed her commitment to service and advancing the profession.

Talk to Your Pharmacist

Welcome to the Talk to Your Pharmacist podcast. I’d like to share a bit about what listeners can expect from the show. After listening to podcasts such as How I Built This, Entrepreneur on Fire, and TEDTalks, I wanted to create a podcast dedicated to showcasing leaders who are doing innovative things in healthcare. Talk to Your Pharmacist is a podcast created for pharmacists, student pharmacists, and others across the country to hear from industry leaders about their perspectives on current healthcare topics and their leadership stories.

Talk to Your Pharmacist is set up as 20 - 30 minute interview. Special guests are identified, interviewed, and these conversations are shared on a regular basis. Guests will share perspectives on a range of topics such as population health, specialty pharmacy, academia, industry, and their leadership stories.

Now a little about myself, Hillary Blackburn, the host of the show. Following graduation from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and a PGY1 residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, I moved to Nashville where I have been a pharmacist in independent and retail pharmacy settings as well as the specialty mail order and health plan space. As part of the mail order position requirements, I obtained licenses in 11 states. I also serve as a preceptor for the Nashville area schools of pharmacy. During pharmacy school, I had the opportunity to intern at HRSA’s Office of Pharmacy Affairs where I gained knowledge of the 340B program and developed content for HRSA’s PSCPS Collaborative, which is now AIMM - the Alliance for Integrated Medication Management. Using all of these skills, I now serve as the Director of Pharmaceutical Services at Dispensary of Hope. Dispensary of Hope a national non-profit organization headquartered in Nashville that is dedicated to insuring that the uninsured have vital access to needed medications. We do that through collaborative partnerships with the pharmaceutical industry and health systems across the country. In this role, I speak with pharmacists across the country on a daily basis and enjoy connecting pharmacists to each other. And that’s the inspiration for Talk to Your Pharmacist.
