I’m Ali—a functional nutrition & lifestyle medicine practitioner, breathwork facilitator, and coach—and I want you to know what this space is and what it’s not.

I’m not an influencer.
You won’t see me linking supplements, selling products, or telling you what worked for my body and insisting it will work for yours.

Your physiology is unique.
Your history matters.
Your nervous system matters.

Recommending one-size-fits-all solutions without knowing you would be out of integrity for me.

Midlife women have become sitting ducks for targeted marketing—quick fixes, miracle supplements, and urgency-based messaging that tells you something is wrong and only this one thing can fix it.

But this transition?
It requires nuance.
It requires intelligent discourse.
It requires attention, intention, and respect for your unique physiology.

What I will share is education, practices, and perspectives that help you reconnect to your own inner wisdom—so you’re not outsourcing your health to the next trend, protocol, or promise.

The most common theme I am seeing with my clients and in my communities these days is analysis paralysis, this knowing and understanding of what to do to feel better and yet the lack of ability to integrate and execute it.

This is due to many reasons, part of which is our subconscious running over 90% of our daily thoughts, habits and actions. Our subconscious does not care if we are happy or thriving or lose that 5 pounds. It just wants us safe.

And what’s safe is familiar.

The nervous system is constantly scanning the body and the environment to see whether we are safe or not. Living in this time of overwhelm and angst in our inner and outer worlds is contributing to the divide between knowing and doing. Living in a state of constant noise, information and rushing keeps us stuck. It’s sadly what has become familiar, ie SAFE. So it’s where so stay even if it isn’t serving us.

The subconscious will always choose a familiar chaos over an unfamiliar peace.

I am here to help you tune out the noise tune into your inner wisdom. I am here to offer tools that shift the subconscious programming, that expand your capacity, gently pushing into the unfamiliar so change can last. I’m here to remind you how to nourish yourself for blood sugar and hormone balance so energy feels sustainable. So you can pour from overflow instead of an empty cup. So you can show up as the version of you with intention, as the most embodied version of YOU.

For your family, for your career, for your community, for the world, for yourself. ✨

If you are still using the tricks that worked 10 years ago — or even 2 years ago — and they’re no longer working, nothing is wrong with you.

You are NOT broken.

Simply put, in midlife your physiology changes. The nervous system, hormones, muscle mass and recovery capacity are different now, which means the strategy has to match the season you’re in. Instead of being overwhelmed by the fear based messaging bombarding women at this stage, we can simply acknowledge this natural shift and met ourselves where we are with compassion and understanding.

Outdated methods such as “eat less” and “work out more” stop working and can keep you stuck on the hamster wheel. When the body is under stress due to fluctuating hormones, the system is wired for protection, not fat loss.

Stress physiology down-regulates metabolism, increases fat storage, raises appetite, disrupts sleep, and keeps you in the loop.

It’s not about trying harder — it’s about trying differently.

In midlife the order matters:
Regulate first → then refine.
• nervous system safety (BREATH, sleep, boundaries)
• muscle preservation (strength training + protein)
• blood sugar stability (composition & timing)
• and only then — a gentle deficit if still needed

If the body doesn’t feel safe, it stores vs burns.

When you slow down, check in, and re-establish communication between head and heart, the body begins to respond again.

When it comes to blood sugar & hormone balance, the nervous system is running the show.

Depending on our state, we are either storing fat or burning it. We are either utilizing the energy from our food and feeling satiated or we are constantly hungry with massive energy fluctuations. We are either signaling safety due to access to nourishment, or signaling danger due to lacking nourishment.

I’ve shared recently one of the best ways to regulate the nervous system to create blood sugar and hormone balance is the simple act of breathing. Well, good news….another simple act we are already doing is also supportive of signaling safety in the nervous system.

Eating.
Eating enough.
Eating enough protein, fat and fiber.
Eating in the morning.

Womens bodies thrive in a fed, nourished state. By eating (especially protein) in the morning you are signaling safety to your nervous system. Signaling you have access to food. You are safe enough to release the hormones necessary for procreation. Your blood sugar starts the day stabilized and energy is consistent for the day.

Breathing (optimally) and eating (enough).

You are not alone.

You can choose to understand what’s happening in your unbroken body, lean into the shifts and work with the new physiology.

You can accept the cyclical nature of our divine feminine nature and reframe the next chapter.

And, of course, there are tools and ways to ease the pain, make suffering optional and have a more easeful transition.
