Rutgers Middlesex County EFNEP Cooperative Extension sends you information about our community engagements to help you and your family. Please see the attached flyer for an upcoming Educational Session hosted by Central Jersey Family Health Consortium in collaboration with St. Peter’s at Unity Square on 1/26/26 from 11am-2pm. In addition to what participants will already receive mentioned on the flyer, they will also be raffling off some additional items. Registration is required and there are limited spots available. Maternal Health Awareness Day is dedicated to raising awareness about maternal health and educating communities on ways to support expectant mothers and improve outcomes for birthing individuals and families.

There will be two sessions held:
Session 1 – 1/23/26 for Clinical home visitors

We know many people in Middlesex County are feeling the impact of recent federal cuts to food assistance programs. With reduced funding for fresh, locally grown produce, Replenish of Middlesex County is receiving fewer fruits, vegetables, dairy, and protein items for families who rely on them. Rutgers Collaborative Center students have partnered with Feeding Middlesex County to help
by raising money to fill in this gap and get the foods needed.

Most of the province is facing extreme drought conditions. Small daily actions can make a big difference in helping our water levels.

• Use appliances less often and only when full

• Keep the tap off when brushing your teeth

• Take quick showers

• Check for household leaks

• Avoid flooding backyard rinks

NEW 2025 USDA Dietary Guidelines- please read as many changes have been made to prior 2020 Dietary Guidelines. The Dietary Guidelines change every 5 years and this time there is big changes. These were just released yesterday so stay tuned for further information.

Under President Trump’s leadership, common sense, scientific integrity, and accountability have been restored to federal food and health policy.

For decades, the Dietary Guidelines favored corporate interests over common-sense, science-driven advice to improve the health of Americans.

That ends today.

The new Dietary Guidelines call for prioritizing high-quality protein, healthy fats, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains—and avoiding highly processed foods and refined carbohydrates.
