“I heard cortisone shots are bad for you.” 🤔
Let’s debunk this myth once and for all.

Cortisone is a corticosteroid designed to reduce inflammation in the tissue. when used correctly, and not overused in the same spot, it is safe and incredibly effective for:
✅ plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
✅ arthritis
✅ joint pain/capsulitis

The biggest side effect? usually just some local irritation or a temporary “flare,” not permanent damage.

Don’t suffer in silence because of a myth. let’s get you walking pain-free again.

My face says “how can i help?” but my soul is screaming “please take your shoes off the white chair.” 😱

Just a day in the life of trying to keep the exam room clean and my sanity intact.

1. keeping the socks on: i have many talents, but x-ray vision through wool socks is not one of them. 🧦

2.“it hurts when i do this”: the medical diagnosis is... stop doing that.

Have a great weekend everyone (and please take your socks off before i come in the room)

Walking on it ≠ It’s not broken. 🛑
Dr. Fernando breaks down the 3 major red flags you should never ignore after a foot or ankle injury.
If you have:
🚩 Inability to bear weight
🚩 Immediate, severe swelling
🚩 visible deformity
Please stop WebMD-ing it and get an X-ray. Link in bio to skip the ER wait time.

Think your bunion is just a cosmetic issue? think again.

A bunion triggers a “domino effect” across your entire foot.

Here is the breakdown of what happens when the bone drifts outward:

1️⃣ The Drift: The bone connected to your big toe shifts, pushing your big toe sideways.

2️⃣ The Collision: It eventually runs out of room and starts pushing directly into your second toe.

3️⃣ The Damage: This pressure often causes hammertoes, painful corns, and calluses on the smaller toes because they are being crowded out.
untreated bunions don’t stay the same—they become progressively worse over time.

Don’t wait until your entire foot hurts to do something about it.

We have surgical and non-surgical ways to stop the progression.

Start ‘em young! 👨‍⚕️👶

Dr. fernando’s newest resident is still mastering his anatomy, but his confidence is 10/10.

Today’s curriculum included some bold new theories:
1. the foot has exactly 3 bones.
2. we apparently have 12 toes (if you just keep counting).
3. crocs are beach-only attire. (honestly? he makes a solid point on this one).

Tune in next time for another episode of “barely evidence-based podiatry.” 😂

The snow has stopped falling, but the er is just getting started. ❄️

Navigating 10+ inches of snow and ice puts massive stress on your stabilizing tendons (peroneals) and your achilles.

If you spent yesterday shoveling, your ankles are likely stiff and vulnerable today.

Swipe through for the “penguin walk” technique to avoid falls this week and how to treat that post-shoveling soreness.

⚠️ Doctor’s Note: if you slipped on ice and can’t put weight on the foot today, do not try to “walk it off.” fractures on ice are common and need an x-ray immediately.

stay safe out there!

We promise we aren’t judging... but the x-ray does not lie 💀

Bone spurs and arthritis do not appear overnight. that “new” pain is usually the result of ignoring a “small” ache for years until your foot finally had enough.
the math is simply not mathing. 📉

it is okay to admit you waited too long.

We are just here to fix it!

A simple rule for everyone starting new gym routines or running schedules:
follow the 3 day rule.

Muscle soreness from a workout is normal. sharp pain is not.

If you have pain in your foot or ankle that lasts for more than 3 days of rest, it is not just “soreness.” it is likely an injury.

Don’t try to “push through” it for two weeks. that is how stress fractures happen.

If day 4 wakes up hurting, call us.

You come to us, on the day of your appointment, and ask me to bless this bad decision? 🤌

the answer is no.
wear the boot or sit the wedding out.

Now that you know what it is, let’s talk about how we actually fix it.

Stretching is great, but sometimes you need more than a frozen water bottle or a tennis ball to calm that inflammation down.

If you have been dealing with this for weeks, it is time for professional reinforcements.

We have specific protocols designed to get you pain free fast so you can get back to walking normally.

Call 475-251-8873 to start your relief plan this week.
