Here's what's actually happening in your body. After you give birth, your immune system can mistakenly start attacking your thyroid gland. This happens in two distinct phases. First, your thyroid releases too much hormone, which can make you feel anxious, jittery, and you might drop a few pounds quickly. But then the second phase hits, your thyroid swings the opposite direction and slows WAY down, which causes that stubborn weight gain and crushing fatigue.
