Since 1976, LWSRA has provided recreation services for children and adults with disabilities through a cooperative agreement with Frankfort, Frankfort Square, Manhattan, Mokena, New Lenox, Peotone and Wilmington Park Districts. LWSRA supports residents residing in our member districts by offering more than 200 programs annually and through inclusion services. Comment and Posting Reminder:

💙 A heartfelt thank you to Exceptional Children’s Charities for their generous donation of $11,500 to LWSRA.

One of our very own Program Specialist, Emily Venezio, presented this afternoon at the IPRA/IAPD Soaring to New Heights Conference in Chicago, alongside Becca Reidenga Talbot and Rosalie Solak!

Their Therapeutic Recreation session, “From Classroom to Summer Camp—Strategies for Smooth Transitions, High Engagement, and Creating a Fun, Successful Summer for Every Camper,” focused on adapting classroom-based strategies to the fast-paced world of summer camp to support engagement, transitions, and camper success. 🌞🏕️

We are honored to have Emily represent our organization and share practical, impactful strategies with fellow therapeutic recreation professionals. Great job ladies!

🎉 Our first two weeks back at Titans for 2026 is in the books! 🎉

Participants spent time at our partner district, Crete Park District , during our Midweek Mix and Friday Flex program, enjoyed weight training in the gym, cooking, seasonal crafts, book club, Lab Rats (science experiments), games, fitness activities, and more. We’re off to a great start and can’t wait for what’s ahead! 💙

Healthy Heroes is a free wellness program for veterans with disabilities living in LWSRA member communities. 💪

Participants receive a free year-long membership to the Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center, plus one-on-one support to explore activities they’ll truly enjoy—at their own pace.

The program focuses on physical wellness, social connection, and overall quality of life in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.

About LWSRA

Since 1976, the Lincolnway Special Recreation Association (LWSRA) has provided adaptive

and special recreation services for individuals with disabilities through a cooperative agreement with Frankfort, Frankfort Square, Manhattan, Mokena, New Lenox, Peotone and Wilmington Island park districts. LWSRA is an integral part of the overall recreation services of each of our partners. LWSRA programs are for individuals from preschool through adult who have recreation needs that are not met by regular park district programs. Also available for residents of the above park districts: Door-to-door service for some programs and inclusion aides for those, after an evaluation, deemed appropriate to participate in regular park district programs with an aide. Participants of LWSRA programs and events not only have fun, but make friends, increase physical activity, enjoy new experiences, and refine social and life skills.
