Earlier this week, Ochsner Health Plan (OHP) hosted its Member Advisory Board (MAB) meetings, bringing together two groups of plan members from the Southshore and Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. These boards meet three to four times per year to share insights, experiences, and feedback on their healthcare plans. The South Shore meeting took place on April 1 at the Ochsner 65+ Clinic in Metairie, LA, while the North Shore meeting was held on April 2 at the Ochsner 65+ Clinic in Covington, LA.

During the meetings, the OHP team presented on several key topics, including the upcoming Vitality wellness program, the significance of Medicare Star Ratings, the importance of medication adherence, and the benefits of mail-order prescription services. These gatherings serve a dual purpose: to inform and to listen. By educating members about the health plan’s operations and guiding them on how to maximize their Medicare Advantage benefits, OHP fosters stronger relationships with its members. As familiarity and trust grow, members become more comfortable sharing their experiences—both positive and challenging—helping to drive meaningful improvements in service and care.

REMINDER: The 2025 Jefferson Parish Senior Expo is this Thursday, March 20 from 8:30am-1pm at the Pontchartrain Center (4545 Williams Boulevard, Kenner, LA 70065)!

The purpose of the Exposition is to provide vital, informative, health and welfare initiatives for Jefferson Parish senior residents with the goal of increasing longevity, and improving quality of life. The Exposition will feature over 125 exhibitor booths decorated in a festive “Red White & Blue” atmosphere in honor of Jefferson Parish’s Bicentennial. Attendees are encouraged to wear attire to celebrate the theme. Some of the featured events include health screenings, a blood drive, a themed costume contest, and entertainment by DJ Rockin’ Ron. Admission is free and lunch will be provided, while supplies last.

This year’s Senior Citizen Exposition, presented by Louisiana Blue, is hosted by Jefferson Parish and the Jefferson Community Foundation. Additional sponsors are Peoples Health, United Healthcare, Assuring Hearts Med Pass, Humana, Louisiana Senior Medicare Patrol, Ochsner Health Plan, Providence Community Housing, Smile Generation/Dentists of Metairie, St. Joseph of Harahan, and The Fussell Group Insurance Advisors.
