While several members of Northlake Homeless Coalition attended the St. Tammany Commission on Families meeting yesterday, we had the opportunity to learn about an incredible resource for children in our community, Camp Bearable.

Camp Bearable is a FREE overnight camp for children ages 7–12 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Held March 13–15, 2026 at Fontainebleau State Park, this camp combines emotional support with traditional camp fun, creative expression, and connection with peers who understand grief.

Facilitated by trained professionals, the goal is simple but powerful: to help children feel safe, seen, supported, and to rediscover joy and hope.
