It was a good run, but ultimately the support wasn't there. Right through the end we had people telling us they've been meaning to come visit the shop and they had 5 years to do so. I'm not saying this from a place of bitterness, I'm saying this to urge you to check out that local place. To keep your money in local businesses. Sure, Amazon is convenient and Walmart is a little cheaper, but if you want your favorite places to continue to exist and if you don't want New Orleans to be bought up by corporations you have to support local. Shares are free- gas them up.

Here are some of our favorite local places in New Orleans proper that are still standing. Please help keep them open after what has been a very brutal summer.

Thank you for the outpouring of support, it means so much to us to know we made a positive impact on so many.

For those that wish to show support in person we'll be open for four more dates during our regular hours, 12pm-7pm.

We still believe in small, local, and handmade, as well as safe spaces for all. The world is getting kinda scary, but we're hopeful that the voice of the people will remain strong, and that as a community, we continue to stand up to fight against oppression, fascism, toxic patriarchal regimes, and late stage capitalism.

Whew! Five years is a long time and we are proud of hanging in there and the community building we've done along the way. Cottage Magick is responsible for so many wonderful relationships we have and hope to continue to maintain.

With the drop in tourism and political climate/economy, it's been a rough one. It's really sad to see what is happening to our local businesses since COVID and it's really sad to have to be one of them.

Conversely, is thriving and a lot of our artists will be coming with us to this location so you can still find some of your favorites! Give us a follow over there and please consider carrying your support over. The space is cute, the vibes are good, and we offer tons of classes and events.

In this workshop we will explore Tarot every witch way discussing recipes, stones, herbs, sounds, and every other way to approach and interact with your cards. Based on Lilith's new book of the same name both beginners and adept readers are welcome here. Don't forget to bring your cards if you like !

Communing with the dead by inducing physical, otherworldly phenomena by means of séance was at one time a growing trend. People would gather socially in their homes and create the proper circumstances for spiritual visitation, followed by tea, snacks, and banter.

The practice of mediumship in England and North America over the last 200 years has a storied history, coloured with rumors of fraud, buried or discredited studies of true phenomena, and deadly attacks from the threatened patriarchy.

A way of life that was once on its way to becoming a daily norm was nearly snuffed out, and the idea of intentional physical manifestation reduced to mere lore.

In this workshop, learn about the social movement of true séances and the modern-day underground preservation of this practice. We'll discuss traditional techniques and explore ways that you can access this real magickal tool that was stolen from us for fear we would gain too much power.

Join Asia Babb Strong in this workshop as we reclaim our rights to commune with our friends across the veil by incorporating lost ways into our modern-day practices.

Please get on board to squash this if you can. This project is a terrible idea for the neighborhood and street that we love.

On Tuesday, the HDLC’s Architectural Review Committee unanimously denied the latest plans for a proposed five-story hotel at 621 Elysian Fields Ave, citing its massive scale and incompatibility with the historic character of the neighborhood.

The proposed 81,258-square-foot building would sit just inches from nearby homes — sparking strong pushback from residents and preservation advocates.

“Tourists don’t come to New Orleans to see new hotels,” said neighbor Barbar Lafleur.

The Preservation Resource Center has joined local residents in opposing the project because of its overwhelming size. A scale model comparing the hotel to nearby homes played a key role in the committee’s decision.
