Today is World Malaria Day.

And honestly… this is one disease many of us have become too comfortable with.

---

You’ll hear things like:

“It’s just malaria.”
“I’ll treat it later.”
“I know the drugs already.”

Like it’s nothing serious.

Like it can’t do much.

---

But working in the hospital has shown me a different reality.

Malaria is not always “just malaria.”

I have seen:

- Young children convulsing from high fever
- Patients becoming extremely weak from severe anemia
- People vomiting, unable to keep anything down
- Emergencies that started as something “simple”

---

Just recently, I saw a young patient struggling…

Weak.

Barely stable.

And malaria was part of the problem.

---

This is what many people don’t understand:

Yes, malaria is common.

Yes, it is treatable.

But when ignored… or poorly treated…

It can become dangerous.

---

And now with the rainy season…

The risk is even higher.

Because mosquitoes are everywhere.

Breeding quietly in:

- Gutters
- Stagnant water
- Open containers
- Dirty surroundings

---

Let me say this clearly:

Malaria is preventable.

---

Simple things can protect you:

✔️ Sleep under treated mosquito nets
✔️ Clear stagnant water around your home
✔️ Use insect repellents when needed
✔️ Keep your environment clean

---

And when you feel symptoms:

- Fever
- Headache
- Body pain
- Weakness

Don’t guess.

Don’t just swallow drugs.

👉 Test first. Treat right.

---

We need to stop normalizing malaria like it’s nothing.

Because the body doesn’t treat it like “nothing” when it becomes severe.

---

World Malaria Day is a reminder.

Not just to talk…

But to act.

---

Take your health seriously.

Protect yourself.

Protect your family.

---

Because sometimes…

What we call “ordinary malaria”…

Is only ordinary until it becomes something else.

Stay safe.

We went for an outreach in a local community recently…

It was a good one.

People came out.
We tested them.
We talked.
We educated.

Everything was going well.

---

After the testing, we started giving results.

Some people were fine.

No malaria.
No serious findings.

Just simple advice… go home, stay healthy.

---

But then something started happening.

One after the other, people began to ask:

“Doctor, where are the drugs?”
“Nurse, what of malaria drugs?”
“What of typhoid treatment?”

Even those whose results were completely normal.

---

That moment said a lot.

Because many people don’t come for healthcare to know their status…

They come because they expect drugs.

---

Let me be very honest.

Not every hospital visit should end with medication.

And not every fever is malaria and typhoid.

---

In fact, let’s talk about typhoid for a second.

Typhoid is not as common as people think.

Yes, it exists.

But it is not something you should just assume and start treating.

---

Yet, what do we see?

People taking antibiotics every time they feel:

- Weak
- Feverish
- Tired

Automatically:

“Let me treat typhoid.”

---

This is where the problem is.

Because antibiotics are not vitamins.

They are not something you take “just in case.”

---

Every time you misuse antibiotics, you are creating a bigger problem:

👉 Antibiotic resistance

That means:

The day you truly need that drug…

It may not work again.

---

And we are already seeing it.

Infections that should be easy to treat…

Becoming stubborn.

More expensive.

More dangerous.

---

During that outreach, many people were disappointed when we didn’t give them drugs.

But the truth is…

Giving drugs when they are not needed is not care.

It is harm.

---

As healthcare workers, our job is not just to treat.

It is to protect you.

Even from unnecessary medication.

---

So please understand this:

✔️ Not every symptom is typhoid
✔️ Not every visit needs drugs
✔️ Always test before treatment
✔️ Avoid self-medication

---

Health is not about how many drugs you take.

It’s about taking the right action at the right time.

---

That day reminded me of something important:

We still have a long way to go with awareness.

---

But it starts with you.

Ask questions.

Seek proper diagnosis.

Stop guessing.

---

Because the wrong habit today…

Can create a serious health problem tomorrow.

Stay informed. Stay safe.

Today in the lab… was intense.

An emergency case came in.

A young lady.

Just 23 years old.

---

You know those moments when you see a patient and something just hits you immediately?

That was it.

She looked weak… struggling… gasping.

There was urgency everywhere.

---

The doctor quickly requested for tests:

- Blood sugar
- Malaria
- Other urgent labs

I had to move fast.

Because in situations like that… every minute matters.

---

I collected her sample and ran the tests.

Then I saw it.

Her blood sugar…

2.

Very low.

Dangerously low.

---

At the same time, malaria came out positive.

Everything started making sense clinically.

The weakness.

The distress.

The way her body was shutting down.

---

They had to start working on her immediately.

Oxygen support.

Nebulization.

Trying to stabilize her.

---

And as I stood there, watching everything unfold…

One thing kept coming to my mind.

Her immunity.

---

You see, when the body is already weak…

When the immune system is compromised…

Even something common like malaria can hit differently.

Harder.

More aggressively.

---

This is something many young people don’t think about.

They assume strength.

They assume “I’m still young, nothing will happen.”

But the truth is…

Your body only fights well when your system is strong.

---

Let me say this clearly:

If you are living with HIV, or even unsure of your status…

Don’t ignore your health.

Don’t delay care.

Don’t wait until your body starts giving you emergency signs.

---

HIV is not the end of life.

But it requires responsibility.

- Regular checkups
- Monitoring your levels
- Taking your medications consistently
- Protecting your immune system

Because once your immunity drops…

Common infections become serious threats.

---

That 23-year-old girl today…

She reminded me of how fragile life can be.

How quickly things can change.

---

As healthcare workers, we see these moments.

And they stay with us.

---

So please, take this seriously:

✔️ Know your status
✔️ Seek care early
✔️ Stay consistent with treatment
✔️ Don’t ignore symptoms

---

Your health is your foundation.

Protect it.

Because sometimes…

Waiting too long is what turns a simple condition into an emergency.

Stay safe.

There are moments in the lab that don’t leave you easily.

Not because of the machines.

Not because of the results.

But because of the people.

---

A man walked in one afternoon.

Quiet. Composed. You could tell he just wanted to do his test and leave.

No complaints. No drama.

Just “I want to check myself.”

---

We ran the tests.

Everything was normal… except one.

The result came out abnormal.

The kind of result that changes conversations.

---

I looked at the paper for a few seconds longer than usual.

Not because I didn’t understand it…

But because I knew what it could mean for him.

---

When it was time to explain, he was standing there, looking at me.

Waiting.

Calm on the outside… but you could sense that slight tension.

Like someone hoping everything is fine.

---

I spoke to him the best way I could.

Carefully.

Professionally.

But still human.

---

And in that moment, you could see it…

That shift.

That quiet realization.

He didn’t say much.

He just nodded slowly.

Took the result.

And walked out.

---

That’s the part people don’t see.

They think lab work is just numbers.

Printouts.

Machines.

But behind every result…

Is a person.

A life.

A story that might be changing right there on that spot.

---

Some people come in expecting nothing…

And leave carrying something heavy.

Not physical.

But emotional.

---

And as healthcare workers, we feel it too.

We may not always show it.

But we carry these moments.

We remember faces.

We remember reactions.

---

This is why I always say:

Don’t wait until something feels wrong before you check your health.

Because sometimes…

The body stays quiet until it can’t anymore.

---

Go for regular checkups.

Ask questions.

Pay attention to your body.

---

Because the earlier you know…

The better your chances.

---

Health is not just about treatment.

It’s about awareness.

And sometimes…

04/12/2026

There are small things we overlook in healthcare… but they matter more than we think.

A patient came into the lab recently for a fasting blood sugar test.

Everything seemed normal at first.

She sat down, calm, ready to be attended to.

Then I asked a simple question:

“Have you eaten?”

She said, “Yes.”

---

In that moment, I paused.

Not because she did anything wrong… but because she simply didn’t know.

No one told her.

---

You see, a fasting blood sugar test is not just any test you walk in and do.

It requires preparation.

👉 You are supposed to fast for at least 8–10 hours
👉 No food
👉 Only water is allowed

Because the goal is to measure your blood sugar level without any recent food influence.

---

So when you eat and then come for the test…

The result won’t be accurate.

And that creates a problem.

---

Now imagine this:

A wrong result is recorded.

It may look like your sugar is high when it’s actually normal.

Or it may hide a real issue.

Either way…

It can lead to wrong interpretation, unnecessary worry, or even wrong treatment.

---

When I explained it to her, you could see it on her face…

That mix of confusion and disappointment.

Because now, she had to go back and come again another day.

More time.

More stress.

All because of information she didn’t have.

---

This is why awareness matters.

Not everything is just “go to the lab and run tests.”

Some tests require preparation.

And if you don’t prepare properly… you don’t get the right answers.

---

Before going for any test, always ask:

- Do I need to fast?
- Is there anything I should avoid?
- What time is best for this test?

Don’t assume.

Ask.

---

As healthcare workers, we see this happen too often.

People come in, spend money, spend time…

Only to repeat the same test because of simple information that was missed.

---

Your health is too important for guesswork.

The right test…

At the right time…

With the right preparation…

Gives the right result.

---

Next time you’re going to the lab, don’t just show up.

Be informed.

Because sometimes, it’s not the test that is the problem…

It’s the preparation.

Stay aware.

04/10/2026

There’s something I see almost every day in the lab… and it’s becoming a serious problem.

A patient walks in with symptoms:

- Fever
- Headache
- Body pain
- Weakness

Immediately, they say:

“It’s malaria and typhoid.”

Both.

Together.

---

We run the tests.

Malaria comes out positive.

Then we check for typhoid…

Negative.

Clear.

No sign of it.

---

But this is where it gets frustrating.

You explain the result to the patient, and they still say:

“Just give me drugs for typhoid too.”

Or…

“I always treat both.”

---

Let me be very honest with you.

This habit is dangerous.

Not just for you… but for everyone.

---

Typhoid is not something you assume.

It is not something you treat based on guesswork.

It requires proper diagnosis.

Because those antibiotics you are so quick to take…

They are not harmless.

---

Every time you take antibiotics when you don’t need them, you are doing something serious:

👉 You are building antibiotic resistance

---

What does that mean?

It means the day you truly need that drug…

It may no longer work.

Your body won’t respond the same way.

The infection becomes harder to treat.

More expensive.

More dangerous.

---

And we are already seeing it.

Patients coming in with infections that are no longer responding to common antibiotics.

Simple treatments becoming complicated.

All because of repeated misuse over time.

---

Let me say this clearly:

Not every fever is typhoid.

In fact, many cases people call “typhoid” are just malaria or other infections.

---

So what should you do?

✔️ Test before treatment
✔️ Follow confirmed results
✔️ Avoid unnecessary antibiotics
✔️ Complete your prescribed doses when given

---

Malaria is common, yes.

But treating malaria and adding typhoid drugs “just in case” is not being careful…

It is being risky.

---

As healthcare workers, we are not trying to deny you treatment.

We are trying to protect your future.

Because resistance is real.

And once it happens… it doesn’t just affect you alone.

---

Your health is not trial and error.

Stop guessing.

Start testing.

Treat what is confirmed.

---

Because one small habit today…

Can create a big problem tomorrow.

04/07/2026

Today is World Health Day.

And honestly… this is more than just a date on the calendar.

It’s a reminder.

A reminder of something many of us neglect every single day.

Our health.

---

Working in the hospital has shown me one thing clearly:

People don’t take their health seriously… until something goes wrong.

You’ll see someone walking around fine today…

Then suddenly, they’re in the hospital tomorrow, wishing they had paid attention earlier.

---

Health is not just about when you’re sick.

It’s about what you do every single day when you feel fine.

Because that’s where the real difference is made.

---

I have seen patients say:

“I thought it was nothing.”

“I didn’t want to check.”

“I just kept taking drugs on my own.”

And now, they’re dealing with something that could have been prevented… or detected early.

---

Let’s talk about simple things we ignore:

- Persistent headaches
- Frequent fever
- Unusual tiredness
- Weight loss or gain
- Body pains that don’t go away

These are not things to keep assuming.

Your body talks.

You just need to listen early.

---

World Health Day is not about fear.

It’s about awareness.

It’s about responsibility.

It’s about understanding that your health is your greatest asset.

---

So what can you start doing from today?

✔️ Go for regular checkups
✔️ Stop self-medication
✔️ Know your status (HIV, hepatitis, blood pressure, sugar level)
✔️ Eat better
✔️ Rest well
✔️ Stay active
✔️ Take mental health seriously too

---

As healthcare workers, we see both sides:

Those who came early… and got help.

And those who came late… wishing they didn’t wait.

---

Your life doesn’t have a spare body.

Take care of the one you have.

---

Today, don’t just read this and move on.

Pause.

Reflect.

Do something about your health.

Because at the end of the day…

When health is lost, everything else becomes secondary.

Stay safe.

04/07/2026

There’s something I see too often in the hospital… and it’s honestly worrying.

A pregnant woman is brought in for a Caesarean Section.

Everything is set.

Doctors are ready. Nurses are prepared.

But one very important thing is missing…

Blood.

---

Let me say this as clearly as possible:

A Caesarean Section is not a small procedure.

It is surgery.

And like every surgery, there is a risk of bleeding.

Sometimes, everything goes smoothly.

Other times… things change quickly.

And in those moments, blood is not something you start looking for.

It is something that should already be available.

---

I have seen situations where:

Relatives are running up and down in panic
Looking for donors at the last minute
Calling people in a hurry
Begging, stressing… when time is already against them

And all I keep thinking is…

“This could have been prepared for.”

---

Pregnancy care is not just about attending antenatal.

It is also about planning ahead.

If there is any possibility of a Caesarean Section:

- Know your blood group
- Have at least 1–2 ready donors
- Make arrangements with the blood bank early
- Don’t wait until the day of surgery

Because when emergencies happen, they don’t give notice.

---

To family members and partners:

This is where you come in.

Support is not just emotional.

It is also practical.

Donating blood or arranging donors is one of the most important ways you can show up for your loved one.

Because in that critical moment… your action can save her life.

---

We always pray for safe delivery.

And yes, many go well.

But preparation is what covers the unexpected.

---

This is not to create fear.

It is to create awareness.

Because no woman should be on an operating table while her family is outside searching for blood.

---

Prepare ahead.

Plan wisely.

Be responsible.

Because when it comes to life… preparation makes all the difference.

“Your Bones Are Alive”

Many people think bones are lifeless structures.

But bones are actually living tissues.

They constantly:

• repair themselves
• store minerals
• produce blood cells

Bones become stronger with:

• Proper nutrition
• Physical activity
• Adequate sunlight for vitamin D

Without these, bones may gradually become weaker over time.

Supporting bone health

• Consume calcium-rich foods
• Spend moderate time in sunlight
• Stay physically active

Healthy bones support movement, strength, and stability.

04/04/2026

This rainy season… something is quietly building up around us.

And many people are ignoring it.

Today at the hospital, I stepped out for a bit and just looked around the environment.

The gutters.

The small pools of water.

The blocked drainage.

Stagnant water sitting there like it belongs.

And immediately, I knew what that meant.

Mosquitoes.

Not just one or two.

Breeding. Multiplying. Waiting.

Then I thought about something that bothers me every year around this time…

The way we take malaria so lightly.

---

You’ll hear things like:

“It’s just malaria.”

“I’ll go to the pharmacy.”

“I know the drugs to take.”

And just like that, it’s dismissed.

As if it’s nothing.

As if it cannot harm you.

---

But let me tell you what I see from inside the hospital.

Malaria is not always “just malaria.”

I have seen:

- Children convulsing from high fever
- Patients coming in extremely weak from severe anemia
- Persistent vomiting, dehydration
- People admitted because the “simple malaria” got worse

And the painful part?

Many of these cases started as something that could have been prevented.

---

Yes, malaria is treatable.

But that doesn’t mean it is harmless.

Especially when:

- You self-medicate without testing
- You take incomplete doses
- You ignore symptoms early
- You keep exposing yourself repeatedly

Every untreated or poorly treated case increases the risk of complications.

---

And now, with this rain?

The risk is even higher.

Because mosquitoes don’t need a river to survive.

Just a small collection of water in a gutter… a container… a tire… even a bottle cap sometimes.

That’s enough.

---

As I stood there looking at those gutters today, I just imagined how many people would fall sick in the coming weeks… simply because of what we ignore daily.

---

Let me say this clearly:

Prevention is easier than treatment.

- Clear your surroundings
- Avoid stagnant water
- Sleep under treated mosquito nets
- Use repellents when necessary

And when you feel symptoms:

- Test first
- Don’t guess
- Don’t just swallow drugs blindly

---

We need to stop normalizing malaria like it’s a small issue.

Because the body doesn’t treat it like something small when it becomes severe.

---

As healthcare workers, we see the end result.

That’s why we speak like this.

Not to scare you.

But because we know how quickly “ordinary malaria” can turn into something serious.

---

This rainy season, be intentional.

Look around your environment.

Protect yourself.

Protect your family.

Because sometimes… what we ignore quietly is what affects us the most.

Stay safe.
