Attention End-of-Year Donors to Non-Profits: The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) implemented a rule change effective December 24, 2025, meaning machine postmarks are now applied at regional centers, not local offices, creating delays that can push a mailed donation's postmark into the new year, even if dropped off in December. To ensure a 2025 deduction, donors must get a manual postmark (hand-stamped), use Certified/Registered Mail, or obtain a Postage Validation Imprint (PVI) at a USPS counter, as the "mailbox rule" (where dropping mail in a box counts) is unreliable for year-end gifts now. Online donations remain unaffected, with the time of electronic transaction being the date of gift.
