The Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office is proud to support the Blue envelope program in partnership with the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

The Blue envelope packet is available for free at the Tusc BDD.

The program introduces the Blue Envelope Packet, available for free at the Tusc BDD Service and Support Center to people with developmental disabilities.

The packet includes several items, first and foremost the Blue Envelope. This envelope can be used to store documentation of the driver/passenger such as copies of ID, vehicle registration, and insurance. The front of the envelope provides enough space to detail any information regarding someone’s disability/medical condition that a law enforcement officer or first responder may find useful. In the event of a traffic stop or similar interaction, the driver or passenger can provide the officer with their Blue Envelope in order to easily communicate important information. If someone is away from their vehicle and does not have access to their Blue Envelope, a wallet card containing important information to help in any situation is also provided. The packet also includes a Blue Envelope car decal that can inform officers/first responders beforehand that a driver or passenger in a vehicle may be part of the Blue Envelope Program and have a developmental disability. Finally, a program brochure containing all information needed to use the contents of the packet is included.

Pictured are Deputy Megan Cox and and Ryder Paris who is a Special Projects Intern with the Tusc Board of DD who has spearheaded the program locally.

We think this is a great program and are proud to support it.

Pick up your free Blue Envelope packet at the Tusc BDD service center at 610 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia Ohio or call (330) 308-7173 for more information.

The breathing technique often referred to as the "physiological sigh"—has been studied by neuroscientists and psychologists, especially in recent years.

Notably, Dr. Andrew Huberman, a neuroscientist at Stanford University, has widely promoted this technique. The physiological sigh involves two quick inhales through the nose followed by a long exhale through the mouth.

Research published in 2023 in the journal Cell Reports Medicine by Spiegel et al., supported by Stanford researchers, compared various breathing techniques for stress and anxiety reduction.

Among these, cyclic sighing (two inhales, one prolonged exhale) showed superior results in lowering anxiety and improving mood when practiced for as little as 5 minutes daily.

The mechanism behind its effectiveness lies in how it affects the autonomic nervous system. The double inhale helps fully inflate the lungs, allowing more oxygen in and resetting the breathing rhythm, while the slow exhale activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting a sense of calm.

Unlike complex mindfulness or meditation techniques, this method requires no prior training and can be used anywhere, at any time, making it highly accessible.

Thus, the claim in the image is factually accurate, backed by modern neuroscience and peer-reviewed research. However, it’s worth noting that while effective for temporary relief, it should not replace long-term treatment or therapy in cases of chronic anxiety disorders.
