Mardi Gras has officially rolled into New Roads Family Practice, and our windows are dressed for the season! From beads and crowns to bold Mardi Gras colors, we’re celebrating everything that makes our community so special. My girl Sarah Melancon executed the vision perfectly!

Whether you’re catching throws on Main Street or just soaking in the fun, we’re here to keep you and your family healthy all year long—not just during carnival season.

🎭 What I treat in primary care (all ages):
• Preventive care and annual wellness visits
• Chronic condition management (high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disorders, cholesterol, etc.)
• Mental health care (anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders)
• Insulin resistance & weight management (evidence-based, medication + lifestyle support)
• Perimenopause & postmenopause care (Hormone replacement therapy + Non-hormonal symptom management for hot flashes, sleep issues, brain fog, mood changes)

My patients are my families—not just names on a chart. New patient visits are 30–45 minutes because real care means knowing you medically and personally, taking time to address what’s been overlooked, and creating a plan together with patience and no judgment.

I am thankful every day for the opportunity to do this work—being a family nurse practitioner in New Roads is a privilege, and caring for this community brings me genuine pride.

JaKayla joins our team with two years of experience in a very busy local family medicine clinic, where she quickly learned the importance of efficiency, adaptability, and patient-centered care. From day one, her ability to think quickly on her feet and adapt to any situation was apparent—an essential skill in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

JaKayla is often the first face and voice our patients encounter, and her infectious smile and laugh instantly create a welcoming, reassuring atmosphere. She truly has a heart for caring for those who are sick, understanding that every patient walking through our doors may be facing something difficult.

Today I had the honor of attending Brooke Smith’s graduation from Rad Tech school, and my heart is so full. 🎓✨

As her provider, I’ve watched her push through challenges, show up for herself, and work unbelievably hard to reach this moment. Seeing her walk across that stage felt like watching a dream come to life — her dream, earned with grit and determination.

I’m incredibly proud of her.

Moments like these remind me why I love what I do — showing up for my patients, cheering them on, and watching them accomplish everything they’ve worked so hard for.

Congratulations, Brooke. Welcome to the medical profession — a place where your compassion, perseverance, and heart will make an incredible impact. I’m honored to witness the beginning of your journey. 🖤

🎃 Clinic Closed for Harvest Festival 🎃

We will be closed on Friday, October 31st in preparation for the Harvest Festival in downtown New Roads!

🩺 Telemedicine patients: If you already have a virtual appointment scheduled with Elizabeth, your visit will take place as planned.

We’ll reopen for normal business hours on Monday, November 3rd, 2025, from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
