"I told her she wasn't allowed to work out for 6 weeks."

She was exhausted. Crashing at 7:30 PM every night. Not sleeping. And the guilt about not working out was crushing her.

She thought it was a moral failing. I told her it wasn't.

Her body had changed. She wasn't getting the support she needed. And we needed to reset expectations about what was possible for her RIGHT NOW.

So I gave her permission to NOT work out. She could walk. She could have s*x. But the stress of the "should workout" was pulling from her already depleted bandwidth—and it wasn't serving her.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is give yourself permission to let something go. Not forever. Just for right now.
